The Home Gardener Program began in June 2024 with the goal of having "mini-pathways" throughout Arivaca and the surrounding hills, with groups of neighbors intentionally growing plants that attract and nurture pollinators. This gives bees, butterflies, bats, and hummingbirds the ability to browse many different nectar sources, greatly magnifying the benefits to them.
Over the past 2 years, more and more Arivaca gardeners have joined the project, and as of June 2026 there are 50 properties registered, an impressive total for this relatively small community! There are now clusters of multiple Home Gardener Program properties within the townsite, just outside town on either side of Ruby Road and Arivaca Road, trailing down Ilteka, Mesquite, Crooked Sky, Cedar Creek, and Hardscrabble Roads, and even a few further out in the hills. Way to go, Arivaca gardeners!
