When I first encountered The Anxiety Project, it struck a deep chord within me. This musical isn’t just a collection of songs or a story on a stage; it’s a mirror, reflecting struggles many of us face in silence. Like so many others, I’ve felt the weight of anxiety. There’s an invisible thread of shared experience connecting everyone who understands what it means to struggle with overwhelming worries or doubts that seem to creep in without warning.
Directing this piece is, for me, an act of vulnerability and hope. It’s about holding space for all of us who feel alone in these moments and about showing that even in our darkest times, we’re never truly isolated. I want this production to resonate not only with those who understand anxiety firsthand but also with anyone who knows someone facing it, helping them to feel seen, understood, and valued.
Through each scene and every song, we’re expressing the complexities and nuances of anxiety—its hold over us, its effects on relationships, and, importantly, our resilience in finding light. I hope this performance becomes more than just a show. I hope it’s a chance for us all to feel connected, to recognize that our shared humanity includes all these emotions, and to remind ourselves that hope, connection, and understanding are always within reach.
Thank you for being part of this journey.
