The sarcopteriperciiformes are one of the most succesful clades of Baloobian fish, characterized by a unique method of swimming which only requires the motion of the fins, this has resulted on them heavily converging with lobe-finned fish and aquatic tetrapods despite actually being more closely related to goldfish.

The benthiwalker (Paradoxus paradoxus) is a very unique creature, to… say the least; they can walk on their pelvic fins and their anal fins, acheiving a tripod stance, as well as having developed a symbiosis with a type of brown algae that provides them camouflage, in return, the benthiwalker provides the alga with a safe place to grow. Strangely, the benthiwalker’s jaw can fully extend and retract in only 15 miliseconds, a useful adaptation for an ambush predator

The mudpsari (Terraichthyes allohexapoda) is also very un-fish-like, as it can waddle onto land using its pelvic fins, pectoral fins, anal fin, and tail to propel itself forward; making for a very unusual waddling motion. Mudpsaries have evolved their dorsal fin into a brightly colored display structure that only males have as developed, with females’ dorsal fin being brownish in color.

The coralcrawler (Koraligradichthyes flavus), this species is the most fish-like out of all sarcopteriperciformes, representing the most basal lineage of its group; however, it is also quite unusual, using its string fins and tail to grab hold of coral and move forward, as well as swimming with their fins.

The birdsnatcher (Souvlator orniphagus), this species is part of a clade within the sarcopteriperciformes known as the Podopterygida, this clade is characterized by using only the pectoral and pelvic fins to swim, resulting in a turtle-like swimming motion; the birdsnatcher however, is weirder than just that, as it can spit saltwater into the air extremely rapidly to catch birds, neach bats, sky slugs, and whatever else it can.

Orcatunas have also evolved a pair of pigmented “fake eyes” that are used to confuse their intraspecies rivals.
