The Woodlands Chess Club

Since its advent in 2017, the Woodlands Secondary School Chess Club has been committed to spreading knowledge and passion for the game of chess. By introducing the board game (or sport depending on who you ask) to students, we nurture students into becoming more fluent thinkers and develop life long skills in collaboration, patience, and perseverance. Our chapter uses the game to create an environment of inclusivity, education and friendly competition that has fostered a loving community within our school. We have organized weekly meetings where members can refine their skills through lessons and practice, and we’ve planned tournaments where our members can demonstrate the skills they’ve learnt with us. With over 124 members in our club, we have been a host for many open chess tournaments in our past, however, due to the current pandemic we’ve transitioned towards hosting monthly online in-school chess tournaments. In order to best nurture our members’ passion for chess, we require funds that would allow us to expand our reach, improve the quality of tournaments, and best facilitate our chapter’s needs. We are open to entering a partnership arrangement where we can leverage our dedicated members as a platform for your business.
