"Returning from abroad with typical male planning disaster was waiting me. No milk, no bread, no anything! Where to eat? I chose The Well a first class village pub, a location I had visited a few times in happier days when I had my late wife at my side. My can you take a scruffy traveler was met with a yes of course! A few locals sitting and standing adjacent the bar, all offered a friendly Good Evening. Chose your own table, I picked one suited to a solo male and within seconds a lovely cold white wine was my companion. The normal dinner menu, the specials board and the fact I had chosen to visit on "burger night" all needed a little reading before my ordering decision was made. Prawns akin to small lobsters split and covered in mouth watering sauce was my starter from the Specials board. I chose to tackle a wonderful fillet of beef as my main, this from the standard dinner menu. It was superb. Full and satisfied one hundred percent but the cheese cake desert was not to be missed, I succumbed, after all there was no one to admonish me on the journey home. Service was first class and the already added optional service charge was reflective of how my evening went. It was easy to understand why it was that so many folk called in to eat on a Tuesday evening at a country pub in the village of Bulkington near Trowbridge."
