So, I was born in Amadora but I was raised in a small town in Portugal's South Bank. In my childhood, I dedicated myself with all kinds of hobbies: ballet in the afternoon, singing the Pavarotti bit in a very specific pizza ad, reading and writing — so much writing.
I must have started around eight years old, but it could've been earlier. I don't remember. All I remember was knowing I was tired of all the stories our Mom read us to sleep. I wanted something new. I wanted something personal. So, I decided to start writing my own. Now, were they truly bedtime stories? No, but at the time I didn't know what fanfiction was.
When I'm not writing, I'm most likely watching some ballet play on youtube, playing Cyberpunk, going on long walks with my two dogs while playing Pokémon Go (my favorite's Gardevoir), or reading. I also just finished my bachelor in HR Management, and while I don't entire love it, it has brought me some very useful things.
While I started writing in the Mystery genre, I've been writing fantasy for a few years now. Right now, I'm working on Project Anti-Matter / Project Dark Matter which is, essentially, a story surrounding four characters that decided to fight the corrupt superhero system. This project has close vibes to tv series such as The Boys and comic books like the X-Men.
I don't know about you, but I don't have other writer friends. I have supportive friends and I'm grateful to have them. However, part of me doesn't feel comfortable sharing all the ugly bits of my process with them. I don't know if I'm seeing them as future clients or if I just don't know how to be more vulnerable in front of other people, but I can't. I partially share my process so I can find other people with the same issues as me.
As for the other reason, through the years, I've seen the act of writing a book almost romanticized and simplified. We see people writing 3,000 words per day, finish writing books in a month, and... I started to question if maybe I was the problem. Maybe if I couldn't write a book in less than three months, then maybe my writing wasn't it. This thought is a lie and I want to remind other people of how wrong that very lie is.
