If you're looking to connect your Evedex account to third-party trading platforms, you'll need an API key. This guide walks you through the entire process—from creating your API credentials on Evedex to linking everything together for automated trading. Whether you're new to crypto futures or just setting up your first API connection, we've got you covered.
An API key acts as a secure bridge between your Evedex account and external trading tools. Instead of manually executing trades on the exchange, you can use automated strategies, bots, or analytics platforms to manage your positions. Since Evedex focuses exclusively on futures trading, having your API configured correctly is essential for taking advantage of advanced trading features.
Before diving into the setup, it's worth noting that Evedex operates on a blockchain-based infrastructure, which means you'll be working with both your exchange account and your on-chain wallet. Don't worry—the process is straightforward once you understand the basics.

Let's start with the first part: generating your API credentials directly on Evedex.
Log in and access your settings
Head over to your Evedex account. If you don't have one yet, you'll need to create an account first. Once you're in, click on your profile icon in the top-right corner and select Settings from the dropdown menu.
Enable one-click trading
Inside the Settings tab, look for the One-Click Trading toggle and switch it to On. This feature streamlines your trading experience and is required for API functionality.
Navigate to the API section
Open the API tab within your settings. You'll see a button labeled [+ Add API key]—click it to begin the creation process.
Configure your API key
When the form appears, enter a descriptive name for your API key so you can identify it later. For the expiration time, we recommend selecting the "Endless" option. This ensures your connection won't suddenly drop due to an expired key, which can be frustrating if you're running automated strategies.
Click [Create] to generate the key, then immediately copy it and store it somewhere secure. Treat this API key like a password—anyone with access to it can interact with your account.
Export your wallet's private key
Here's where Evedex differs from traditional exchanges. Navigate to the Security tab in your settings and locate the Private key section. Click [Export wallet], then [Copy key] to retrieve your wallet's private key. This key is separate from your API key and is tied to your on-chain wallet. Store it securely alongside your API key.

Now that you have both your API key and wallet key, it's time to link everything together. We'll use Bitsgap as an example, but the general process applies to most platforms that support Evedex integration.
Access your exchange connections
Log in to your Bitsgap account and go to My Exchanges. Click the [Add new exchange] button to start adding a new connection.
Select Evedex and enter your credentials
From the list of supported exchanges, choose Evedex. You'll be prompted to enter two pieces of information: your API key and your wallet key. Paste both values into the respective fields, double-checking for any extra spaces or missing characters. Click [Connect] to complete the setup.
Verify the connection
After a moment, Evedex should appear in your My Exchanges list with a "Connected" status. You should also see your available trading balance displayed, confirming that the integration is working properly. If something goes wrong, go back and verify that both keys were copied correctly.
Evedex uses a dual-account structure that might seem confusing at first, but it's actually designed to make your life easier.
Your Smart Account is your on-chain wallet—the place where your funds are stored on the blockchain. This account is linked to your wallet provider, such as MetaMask or WalletConnect. Think of it as your main vault.
Your Trading Account, on the other hand, is created automatically when you start trading on Evedex. This is a sub-account on the platform where your active trading operations take place. It's similar to a margin account on traditional exchanges.
The beauty of this system is that funds move between accounts automatically. When you place a trade, the necessary amount transfers from your Smart Account to your Trading Account without any manual intervention. Once your trade executes or gets cancelled, any remaining funds automatically return to your Smart Account.
Manual transfers between accounts
If you ever need to move funds manually, here's how:
Click your profile icon in the top-right corner and select Transfer. Choose Smart Account as the source and Trading Account as the destination. Enter the amount you want to transfer and click Transfer to complete the process.
This setup gives you the security of self-custody while maintaining the convenience of traditional exchange trading. Your funds stay in your control, but you can still execute trades with the speed and efficiency you'd expect from a centralized platform.
With your API key configured and your accounts set up, you're ready to start exploring automated trading strategies. Whether you're interested in arbitrage, grid trading, or custom bots, having your Evedex connection properly configured opens up a world of possibilities.
Remember to keep your API and wallet keys secure, and consider setting up additional security measures like IP whitelisting if your trading platform supports it. Happy trading, and may your positions always close in the green.
