Like many seasoned teachers thrown into teaching online during the pandemic, I had to navigate a new educational technology and tackle complex challenges of engaging students I often couldn't see or hear.
But, unlike many teachers, I actually enjoyed the challenge of these new opportunities. Weird, huh?
My struggle was reentering the in-person classroom with so many students facing unprecedented levels of emotional trauma and other fall-out from the isolation and social turmoil of a year-plus of quarantine.
It was time to change my offering.
Meet Taylor
Starting in Fall 2022, my considerable expertise of 16+ years of coaching and cheerleading students from a wide variety of backgrounds can reach students from many cities and states.
Instead of being forced to try to spread my support and knowledge across a whole room of disconnected and traumatized students, therefore serving no one well, I now offer my talents and skills to families seeking highly-qualified, ONE-ON-ONE writing and coaching support that actually makes a difference.
In short, I know what it means to work with teenagers and support them on their journey of individuation. I'm here to support what you do, to take the weight off your shoulders so you can focus on being with your family instead of stressing about their school work.
I'm grateful to be on this journey together!

16+ Years Teaching Experience
After earning a Bachelor of Arts in English from The George Washington University in Washington, DC, my teaching career began in 2003, when I taught Humanities at Highland Free Charter School in Tucson, AZ, in a combined 2nd-5th grade classroom.
I next took off a couple years to have a child and meanwhile earned a Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing at the University of Arizona with a concentration in Poetry in 2007. This experience had me visiting local elementary schools and high schools as a teaching poet, until I was hired as a full-time English instructor at Desert View High School upon earning my diploma (which at that time had my married name Wild).
I taught at Desert View High School for 7 years, serving a first-generation and 80 percent-plus Hispanic and Latino demographic. I taught my incredible students AP English Literature, AP English Language, Writing 101 / Dual-Enrollment through Pima Community College, Creative Writing, and directed a Student-led Writing Center. I also earned my Post-Baccalaureate Secondary Teaching Certification from Pima Community College in 2010 whilst teaching full-time.
Then, I transitioned to Catalina Foothills High School, where I served as a Speech and Debate Coach for an active travel team of 30+ students and continued to teach AP English Language, as well as piloted the first ever AP Seminar class offered at Foothills.
After 3 years, I moved over to City High School in 2016, a small-by-design public charter, where I worked for the past 5 years as an English and Creative Writing teacher and served as a coach for my teacher peers. Alongside my amazing colleagues, I brought a trauma-informed, anti-racist, radically-inclusive approach to instruction to support a lively population of racially diverse and LGBTQIA+ students, as well as a higher-than-average percentage of students receiving support services.
In addition to all of these credentials, like you, I'm also parent of a teenager, and mine is about to graduate from high school.
I'm also a published writer, poet, memoirist, and a new solopreneur in the midst of launching a nightly dreamwork private coaching practice. (If that interests you, I encourage you to check out my other offerings at symbodythedream.com. )
Thanks for taking the time to learn more about my background. I am looking forward to getting to know you and your student soon!
