Just a few years over a decade earlier, Apple Company was going through extremely tough times. The situation was so worse that it needed $150 million investment from Microsoft just to stay alive. But then in 2007, we saw the launch of iPhone, which started a revolution in the mobile technology. Taking inspiration from Apple, other companies started manufacturing Android phones. The result was that we started seeing smartphones being used in all over the world.

In this article, we are going to discuss a list of most important technology products and trends of 2010s. All of these are directly or indirectly connected with the mobile revolution. A few of these trends or products are intersected with iPhone and Apple.

Uber, Lyft and Airbnb

Companies like Uber, Lyft and Airbnb have contributed well in making the power of smartphone apps more apparent. Now, whether you want to get a ride or find a place to stay, you can use these services without getting out of the place you are currently at. These companies served as trend setters as their counterparts were launched in different parts of the world, i.e. DiDi in China and Grab in Southeast Asia. These services got so popular that Airbnb had more listings than all of the available rooms of the world’s top hotel chains, and Uber and Lyft started giving 65% more rides than cab services in New York City.

Airpods and elimination of headphone jack

Elimination of headphone jack from the iPhone 7 was termed as one of the most controversial innovations. The main purpose of this innovation was to move the world to wireless earbuds. This innovation paved way for the $159 Airpods. When Airpods were launched in 2016, they were not quite admired by the customers at that time. But then, Apple worked on making the earbuds look better; and they sis look better, leading the people getting convinced about the purchase. This product has become so popular that Apple is about to reach the milestone of selling 50 million sets of Airpods in 2019.

Apple watch and other wearables

Apple keeps bringing innovations in the industry. Apple Watch is one of such innovations to talk about. In the start, this watch was not a big attraction for the Apple fans but then it became the bestselling watch in the world within two years. Fitbit, Gamin and other companies also make the fitness tracking wearable devices which mainly focus on giving information about fitness activities done on the daily basis.

Google Glass is another innovation which arrived in 2013. Although this innovation was not a hit, Google Glass-like augmented reality glasses are set to be launched in 2020. Facebook and Apple are also set to launch their own Augmented Reality glasses in a few years.

Tesla Autopilot

Tesla hasn’t been enjoying the highest number of sales of its cars but its recent innovation has certainly come under the spotlight. It’s the all-electric, self-driving car that we are talking about. The self-driving feature was available due to a $2,500 "Autopilot" upgrade which was made available in 2015.

Tech fighting tech

One of the major drawbacks of technology has been that it caused people to stick to their screens while forget totally about their health and fitness. But then, certain people became more aware about the health risks in this regard and demanded tech to be helpful in maintaining health and fitness. The development of fitness trackers such as Apple Watch and Fitbit has made it possible for the people to do effective monitoring of their fitness activities. The SleepWatch app helps in sleep tracking. Meal trackers help in the calorie counting.

Cloud, Data and AI

Cloud, Data and AI are the backend technologies that have not been quite visible to the users but they surely have changed the entire scenario of how data is stored, access and processed behind the screen. Digital Assistant and automatic backing up of data are the bright examples in this regard.

4G LTE

Although we are now about to get 5G, the revolution of speedy internet started with 4G LTE. 3G was itself quite fast as compared to the general speed of internet most of the users were experiencing but 4G made 3G look quite an outdated technology.
