Stories Worth Sharing 

Tayna Ramesch, the 2025 Kansas Civics Bee State Champion and rising sophomore at Wichita Collegiate, was recently invited to speak to the Kansas State Board of Education during its August meeting.  Ramesch used the opportunity to share how participating in the Civics Bee helped her recognize the importance of studying history and government, and, more importantly, how that knowledge continues to inspire her to connect with others as well as give back to her community. 

Tayna's story is a great reminder of the power of civic learning both in and beyond the classroom.

August 2026 Kansas State School Board Meeting 

The Kansas LINKS professional development program recently received some great attention from KSNT, which featured the program in a story highlighting the work of 50 Kansas history teachers who gathered at the Dole Institute of Politics.  LINKS, led by the National Council for History Education (NCHE), provides educators with tools, resources, and strategies to bring history and civics to life in their classroom.

More opportunities are coming! Applications for the next phase, LINKS II, will be out soon.  Look for information about how to apply on the Sunflower Journal as well as in the September edition of the Journal.
