Have you considered hiring a producer before you’re ready for a producer? Smart idea!
WHY DO I NEED A PRODUCER?
Not having a music producer for your recording project can be a frustrating setback for musicians. A producer provides expertise, guidance, and direction, bringing your music vision to life in the best possible way. Without one, you may struggle with the recording process, lack professional quality, and miss out on valuable feedback. A producer can help you achieve the most from your recordings, progress creatively, and make it easier to reach a wider audience. For serious musicians, finding a producer is essential for success.
My name is Jason Gardner and I am a music producer/coach and session drummer who lives in Boston, Massachusetts.
I’ve been fortunate enough to work with some great projects over the past 30 years, all different styles of music from people all over the world. I have also worked alongside some of the greatest producers.
As a professional coach for 10 years, producing and coaching go well together. It’s all about working with people. But also as a producer, I love the management aspect which includes in no particular order:
Find and negotiate rates for the recording studio.
Work with the artist to envision and create the final product.
Preproduction: Reviewing and working on the songs. Recording and reviewing “rough takes”.
Creating a physical and nonphysical environment (mindset) in which to facilitate a peaceful and effortless recording experience!
Time management throughout the whole project (THIS IS BIG). Preproduction and at studio. (What comes first, what come next)
Being a second set of ears throughout the whole project. An honest and experienced perspective.
Assisting in the recording process. A conduit between artist and engineer. I know the studio language so you don’t have to.
Keep it so the artist’s job is to just PERFORM.
Champion and hold the space of positive intention for the artist throughout.
Overseeing all editing and mixing. This includes EQ, format/quality, additional processing, additional overdubs, etc.
Work with the artist on their creative vision for the final product and maintain that throughout the entire project.
Overseeing final mastering and production of the final media format.
I have worked on several releases with Sean Slade (Radiohead) with the band HumanKind and Swedish Suicide We did three CDs with him. It was really fun to work with Sean. His approach is very similar to mine: to get the best performance out of a band possible LIVE.
Dave Falk: Producer, mixed, arranged, drummed, and sang background vocals. This was a very large-scale production with some of the best performers in the world. As a producer who has relationships with the best performers, I get to bring them into a good project. https://bit.ly/3x133hl http://bit.ly/3x133hl
Vinyard Sounds with Danny Korchmyer (JAMES TAYLOR)
SYD: Produced, engineered, mixed, arranged, drummed, and sang background vocals. 4 TRACK CASSETTE http://bit.ly/3RDZTJP
