SAFETY TOOLS & THE SPIRAL

Our server's policy on safety tools is that you are all strongly encouraged to use them. No one is going to force you, though. Instead, we are very serious about enforcing our RULES and building a close-knit community. GMs and players who respect, trust and know each other are more likely to make the game fun, safe and rewarding for everyone at the table.

Again, it's recommended to keep the tools on the table even if they are very rarely used and the group's been playing together for months.

💡Regardless of what safety tools, if any, you end up using, remember that the entire group shares the responsibility for the table's safety, fun and comfort.

RECOMMENDED SAFETY TOOLS

We recommend using Script Change by Beau Jágr Sheldon. The way I do it, I encourage every player (including myself) to say one of the WORDS below if they need to...

PAUSE the game to take a break from an intense scene, or to discuss what is happening in the story. They can also use it to have a moment to think about using one of the options below.
REWIND the story back to a point before a piece of content entered the scene. The group can then narrate a different course of action to avoid the thing that caused the rewind.
FAST-FORWARD or SKIP over something they don’t want to dwell on in the story, or to simply move time forward.
FRAME-BY-FRAME through a scene you want to approach with care. This slows the story down so everyone can pause where needed and check in with each other.

We recommend ending each session with a round of STARS AND WISHES.
