The Sims 4 Paranormal Stuff adds a brand new lot type to the game; Haunted House Residential. This lot type has some similarities with the Tiny House Residential lot type introduced with The Sims 4 Tiny Living Stuff, but comes with a lot more in-depth gameplay! Your Sims will have to put some effort into reaping the benefits of their new haunted abode rather than just being granted bonuses for living on the lot.

Any Residential lot can be turned into a Haunted House Residential lot in Build/Buy, even if there are Sims already living on the lot. In the lot info panel in the top left of the screen, simply click the lot type drop down list and select Haunted House Residential. Boom! Your house is now officially haunted!

Haunted houses can be a great place to live, especially since you gain reward points for each night you get through. However, they come with a few unique traits that you need to be aware of and understand. Here's everything you need to know about the new Haunted House Residential lot type.

Updated on May 19, 2023, By Helen Ashcroft: The Sims 4 Paranormal Stuff retains its crown as the most packed stuff pack ever to be released. In order to make sure you can still get the most out of it we've updated our haunted house guide so you too can survive the night and reap the rewards.

Any house can be a haunted house, even pre-built lots already in your game. The trait is also not tied to any world, meaning these specters can go anywhere you desire.

Technically you can make any lot haunted. However, any community lot will lose the features of its original type and instead gain the haunted features and function as a residential lot.

If you'd rather not build a mysterious mansion you'll also find Doctor Ashley's pre-built Duplantier Dwelling in your library, ready to place into the world. Just make sure you've saved the house with the correct type, as it can revert to a regular residential lot when you add it from the gallery.

If you do choose to have a haunted community lot it means that while your haunted gym building can gain some specters, it will no longer attract townies. Instead, you'll need to move a Sim into the lot in order to visit it and experience the supernatural phenomenon. Think of them as a caretaker...

With this lot type selected, several paranormal related lot features will come into play. While you'll get the most out of living in a haunted house, you can still experience most of the features by visiting other Sims who live there. Here's what you can expect from your haunted houses.

On haunted house lots specters will appear each night. They range from friendly, happy spirits who just want to explore to angry, hostile specters with occasional fire breath.

The house has a spiritual harmony level. If you want to keep things under control then you'll need to work to keep things peaceful. Alternatively, you can ramp up the paranormal occurences and see how chaotic things can get when the specters take over.

Each night you spend in a haunted house will earn your Sim 125 reward store points. If you ramp up the activity level to heroic, using the hand statue, this is doubled to 250 points a night.

Living in a haunted house isn't for everyone but there are a few things that can help you out. We recommend learning the medium skill and asking Bonehilda and Guidry for a hand. You can also check out the different clutter items that can have an effect on the spiritual atmosphere.

The Sims 4 Paranormal Stuff has added a new lot type to the game. The Haunted House Residential trait brings spookiness to any home. The size doesn't matter either. You don't need a rambling mansion to add some ghostly goings-on to your house. Any lot large or small can become spook-central. The only restriction is that it has to be a house since apartments are a separate lot type.

If you want to take on the challenge of taming a haunted house and making friends with your new guests, then this guide will help you out. We look at all the different things you can do to ensure the spiritual harmony of your home is positive.

The Sance Table is your best tool for both monitoring and adjusting the level of spiritual harmony in your home. From level one of the medium skill, Sims are able to 'Sense Spiritual Volatily' which lets them know the current status of the house. In haunted houses, this will display a message letting you know the frequency of visits and how friendly the specters are. Use this to keep track of your progress.

Sims can also 'Perform Ceremony.' This will cleanse the house's aura and slowly reduce any negative spiritual behavior. Frequently performing the short ritual will help keep the aura of your house more positive.

If your lot is haunted then Guidry will show up from the second night. Assuming you are happy to let him hang around, then he'll help you out. He appears each night and can offer practical help as well as answering your questions.

If you follow these steps then you can keep on top of the hauntings and your Sim will begin to adjust to the unique atmosphere of the house. They will start to sleep better and become less afraid. You can also use the reward points you earn each night to purchase the brave trait and then you'll be even more relaxed with your guests.

Haunted house residential is a lot assignment introduced in The Sims 4: Paranormal Stuff. It is a regular residential lot that includes various "spooky" occurrences that only happen at night. Small ghosts known as Specters are seen roaming around the lot, which Sims can interact with. Other events such as flickering lights, pipes rattling or creepy dolls are also regularly found on this lot type.[1]

From the first day Sims move into a haunted house, every night they will experience some paranormal activity from flickering lights to strange noises. On the second night Claude Ren Duplantier Guidry will appear and offer help and questions for players and specters begin to appear. The specters will start off happy but will continue to lower in mood until they're angry specters unless Sims can clean up occult marks and destroy cursed objects. Sims must survive in the house until they've lived seven days inside the haunted house. On the fifth night Temperance appears. Each night Sims go through they will receive 275 satisfaction points and by the end of the 7 nights Guidry will gift his clothing items in Create a Sim for all the Sims in the household.

Haunted houses have a status of spiritual volatility which dictate how much paranormal activity, haunted items, and ghostly presence appears during the night. Mediums can use a seance table to sense the spiritual volatility and even help calm it down by interacting with the specters and performing ceremonies. Sims who don't get rid of haunted objects will start to experience more paranormal activity as well as the specters start becoming angry.

Claude Ren Duplantier Guidry is an NPC that appears after a day or two after a Sim has moved into a haunted house, and he will offer questions and help teach Sims the basics of how to interact with specters and other paranormal happenings as the days go by. When Sims achieved maximum medium skill, they can talk to Guidry about the paranormal investigator license so the Sim can have the option in the career Freelancer.

Temperance is a ghost NPC who will appear quite a while after the Sim has moved into the haunted house and she will try to make sure that Sims have a hard time trying to appease the ghosts so that the spiritual volatility will get worse and thus more spooky and scary events start to happen.

Living within a haunted house, Sims will notice overtime there will be strange objects appearing throughout the lot. The range of cursed objects are a creepy doll, a sculpture of hands, creepy branches, ectoplasm puddles, etc. When encountering these objects Sims will get the scared emotion and thus makes trying to destroy them hard. Cursed objects collectively bring down the spiritual volatility faster. If Cats & Dogs is installed, pets will react negatively to cursed objects.

Players can purchase the "Helping Hand" sculpture from the build mode catalog that allows players to stop Guidry from appearing, but more usefully is able to enact "Heroic Mode" which is a challenge mode where spiritual volatility decays faster and earn more satisfaction points. This mode makes Sims experience a more challenging side of living within a haunted house, it will be beneficial to get the Brave trait from the rewards store to help go through this challenge easier.

In the window that opens, click on the My Library tab and select "Lots" on the left side. Then you can search for specific lots. In this case, I'm placing the "haunted" lot which is called Duplantier Dwelling. So I typed Duplantier and clicked the magnifying glass (not shown) which filtered to the lot below.

Click on that lot to open the lot panel and then click the "Place Lot" button in the lower right.

it doesn't give me the option only on certain lots Well when I put a house down from the gallery it won't let, I tried a new save file and it's weird only some lots let me do it maybe it has to do with the size of the lot?

FYI, even when I choose the gallery/library lot type of haunted house lot it still places as a residential lot. I've noticed this the two times I've placed a haunted house lot, the first was the one that comes with PSP and the second time was my own lot that I had made a haunted house and then I placed it in another save. The second time I realized to check if it placed properly right away and I changed it immediately (unlike the first time where I was wondering why nothing was happening which then prompted me to look at the lot type in build mode ). e24fc04721
