Dandelions and Violets
Maddie
Maddie
I have a garden,
A garden filled with flowers I’ve nurtured since I was born
I’ve kept them healthy
They’re flowers bursting with color, personality, smells, and emotions
It was a beautiful garden
Then I met you
You looked as gorgeous as sunflowers and lavender
You were so kind
I felt butterflies fly over my garden every time we talked and sat together
I believed it to be true
You told me you had flowers as well
Dandelions and Violets
They looked as beautiful as flowers, and you wanted to plant them in my garden
I agreed
I thought they would look so lovely next to mine
I didn’t know
I didn’t know I’d watch the personality decay from my flowers
I watched helplessly
Those dandelions and violets spring up from the graves of my dead flowers
It was infested
I wanted to take them out
My garden was overflowing with your “flowers”
I was scared to pull them out
I believed they were flowers
Dandelions and violets aren’t flowers
They’re weeds.
