Conclusion

Blake and Jane eventually woke up. At first, they were confused because they didn’t realize that they had fallen asleep.

Jane looked at Blake and said, “You know it was really strange what I just had a dream about. I dreamed about all of the interrogations we had in the Runaway Princesses case.”

Blake was in shock and said, “That’s really weird because I dreamed about the same thing. Do you think that there’s something we’ve missed?” Jane nodded her head because that is what she had thought.

Blake and Jane gathered up the notes both of them had taken when they interrogated King Charles, King Harald, and Lilly and the other sisters.

“Look at this. I wrote that King Charles was nervous when we brought up the baby,” said Jane.

Blake replied, “Look here. I wrote that King Charles had started sweating the second he saw us. I also wrote that King Harald was overly confident when we asked him questions.”

“I wrote something similar about King Harald. Lilly was pretty confident as well when we asked all of them questions. The other sisters just sat there in silence,” Jane responded.

Blake and Jane sat there and stared at their notes for a while. All of a sudden they both looked at each other, and it were as if a lightbulb went off inside both of their heads.

Jane said, “What if we have had the suspects wrong the whole time? This could be a huge lead.”

Blake replied, “I’m with you 100%. We have to look at all of our evidence and materials from this new perspective.”

Both of them carefully went through everything they had about the case with a fresh set of eyes and clear minds. They found that there were many things they had missed because they assumed that the princesses were the criminals. One thing they missed is that King Charles was old, and he so desperately wanted an heir to the throne. He wanted an heir so bad that he forced his daughter to marry someone when she didn’t care to. Another thing they missed is that the poison they had found in Angela’s and Bree’s bloodstream had been the same poison that was found in Louis’ bloodstream. The final thing they missed was the note that James had a twin brother. One by one the pieces were falling together. New leads and suspects were forming.

At last, Blake said, “I think King Charles was the one who stole the baby or hired someone to do it. I also think that either Louis or King Harald, maybe even both, were the ones who poisoned Angela and Bree.”

“I think you’re onto something. I’m starting to wonder if the body we found is James’ twin brother Kurtis. We never got the rest of the results back. We just went off of our suspicions,” Jane responded.

“So, if the body belongs to Kurtis, is Clara still our suspect?” Blake said.

Jane replied, “I don’t think we should focus on Clara. I think we should focus on Lilly and the other sisters, as well as get a warrant to search Kurtis’ house. That way we can find out if James and Kurtis had communicated since James became king.”

It was now September. Blake and Jane worked extremely hard to solve the Runaway Princesses case.

They managed to find a security camera at the hospital that hadn’t been cut. The footage showed King Charles’ servant with the stolen baby, as well as the servant get inside a van. The van was traced back to King Charles. When Blake and Jane went back to ask him more questions, King Charles confessed to being an accomplice.

Blake and Jane got a warrant to search King Harald’s house. They found the bottle of poison that was used and quickly took it to get a fingerprint analysis. The results found King Harald’s fingerprints all over it. Blake and Jane arrested him immediately. King Harald ended up confessing in the interrogation room. He left Louis out of the confession in order to protect his family.

Blake and Jane got the rest of DNA results back from the body that was assumed to be James. The results showed that the body was in fact James’ twin brother, Kurtis. They searched Kurtis’ house and found a notebook full of information. The information was about the secret trapdoor that led to the enchanted palace. Blake and Jane went back to question Lilly and the other sisters. Lilly led Blake and Jane to the enchanted palace, but no one was there. Blake and Jane searched the palace and found James’ body. Blake and Jane arrested Lilly and the other sisters and put them into interrogation rooms.

One question still remained. Where are the runaway princesses?
