Western Lowland Gorilla

The Western lowland gorilla was a research animal in the original Zoo Tycoon, and live in the tropical rainforest biome.

Bigfoot

Bigfoot was a animal part of the original Zoo Tycoon's Endangered Species theme pack (despite it's mythological status). They live in the Boreal Forest biome. Requires the filtertext for the mythological status.

Japanese Serow

The Japanese Serow is an animal apart of the original Zoo Tycoon's Endangered Species pack, resizing in the boreal forests of Japan. Credit to WWDU for the base texture and Penguinman for the location!

Spotted Hyena

The spotted hyena is a from the original Zoo Tycoon, and became a household name thanks to the irreverent The Lion King. The live in the Savannah biome, and are notably more carnivorous than their equally humerus relatives. Credit to Doctor Hyena for the original model.

Siberian Tiger

The Siberian tiger is an animal from the original Zoo Tycoon, and the largest feline in the world. They live in the cold boreal forests of Russia, hunting deer and wild boar. Comes with a Chinese Fir tree, and a royal variant.

Arctic Wolf

The arctic wolf appears in the original Zoo Tycoon. It's a subspecies of grey wolf that lives in the tundra biome. Credit to Collar for the original textures!

North American Puma

The North American puma is one of 2 subspecies of cougar, and is the subspecies featured as a bonus download in the original Zoo Tycoon. This particular groups lives in the boreal forests surrounding the Rocky Mountains. They're the largest small cat in the world, rivalling the jaguar in size!

Yeti

The Yeti perhaps one of the most well-known of the bonus downloads for Zoo Tycoon, and one of the most famous cryptids out there. Don't worry, we've massively toned down its mountain requirements!

Saltwater Crocodile

The saltwater crocodile was a well-known animal in the original Zoo Tycoon. It's the largest reptile in the world, and one of few crocodilians to inhabit coastal saltwater in Southeast Asia and Australia. Credit to User eXpansion Team for the base texture!

Blackbuck

The Blackbuck, also known as the Indian antelope, was a downloadable animal for the first Zoo Tycoon. They are found in the scrublands of India, Nepal, and Pakistan. This animal comes with the Khejri tree.

Llama

The llama was a downloadable animal for the original Zoo Tycoon. It's the most significant animal that was domesticated in the New World, and come in a variety of coats thanks to artificial selection. WWDU's llama was used as a base for the first version, but has since been updated to use the camel instead.

Giant Anteater

Giant anteaters are large, myrmecophagous mammals featured in the original Zoo Tycoon. They're the largest living xenarthrans in the world, and knuckle walk on their forelimbs that boast powerful claws that are used to rummage through termite mounds in the savannah of South America. Their claws can also be used as a defence measure against predators such as jaguars. 

Indian Leopard

The Indian leopard is a subspecies of leopard found in the original Zoo Tycoon, under the lieu of "black leopard". The Indian leopard is notable similar to its African counterpart, but generally has a more yellowish fur colour. They're fairly adaptable animals, but prefer India's temperate forests.

Malayan Tapir

Malayan tapirs are odd-toed ungulates found in the original Zoo Tycoon's Endangered Species pack. Not only are these endangered tapirs are not only the largest tapirs in the world, but are also the only tapirs found in the Old World. These tropical rainforest animals face deforestation and calves being illegally traded. 

Olive Baboon

The olive baboon is one of many animals from the original Zoo Tycoon. These Old World monkeys live in large troops, and have been known to hunt various animals including other monkeys. Though they can be found in forested areas, they prefer the savannas of Africa. 

Bighorn Sheep

The bighorn sheep is a North American sheep part of the original Zoo Tycoon. Descending from ancestors in Asia, this species resides in the alpine tundra of the Rocky Mountains. Bighorn sheep are well-known for rams ramming each-other with their signature curved horns for mating rights.

American Black Bear

American black bears are a species of bear that appeared in the original Zoo Tycoon. They're smaller than the brown bears they co-exist with, and tend to inhabit the same boreal forests as them. Contrary to their name, American black bears can be found to be a wide variety of colours, including brown, blue-grey, and cream! Thanks to Thom for bug-fixing!

Clouded Leopard

Clouded leopards are rare cats found in the base game of Zoo Tycoon. Though they themselves aren't leopards, they are a fairly close relative. They typically hunt at night in the Southeast Asian tropics. Credit to Lgcfm for help with the texture! (spots are very annoying to deal with)

Mexican Wolf

Mexican wolves are a rare subspecies of grey wolf from the original Zoo Tycoon's Endangered Species pack. They once roamed throughout Mexico and the Southern Untied States, but have been forced into two small pockets of temperate land (one in each country). Less than 500 of these wolves exist in the entire continent.

Unicorn

BUnicorns are an elusive equine that were an Easter Egg in the original Zoo Tycoon. They're famous for their long horn, but are extremely rare. Comes with its own Easter Egg to reference the DS spinoff.

Foliage Pack 1

A pack that contains several select foliage from the original Zoo Tycoon. Pack 1 has foliage preferred by standard (not prehistoric or marine) animals (ex. Malayan tapir, saltwater crocodile).

Magnet's Ball

Magnet the polar bear was the winner of Microsoft's "Best Zoo Animal" competition, and was added to Zoo Tycoon because of his accolade. Magnet lived in the Baltimore Zoo, and he was well known for playing with his red ball. Please note that in-game, only male polar bears will play with his ball.

Holiday Pack

This pack contains three festive objects that were special unlocks in the original game. The first of these are the snowman, holiday tree, and jack-o-lantern.

Swinging Log

Previously only usable by African elephants, the swinging log takes new shape in Forgotten Animals, being usable by a far wider variety of  your zoo's larger residents. Big thanks to Thom for help with big fixing!

Ambient Birds Pack

This is a pack of 5 new ambient birds from the original Zoo Tycoon. The blue jay and red-tailed hawk are ambients in that game, while the rest are featured in the aviary's selection icons. Thanks to HENDRIX for a blue jay sound, Lgcfm for coding help, and Okeanos for the base model and texture for our eagle and hawk!

Classic Music Rock

The classic music rock is a tribute to the carnival-esque design of several buildings from Zoo Tycoon. The music rock also plays an excerpt from the extended Zoo Tycoon theme. Some say that guests aren't the only enjoyers of this nostalgic tune...

Campfire

The campfire is a scenery item from the original Zoo Tycoon as a bonus download, part of the Arctic theme. Campfires will create a nice ambience for colder parts of your zoo, such as with tundra or boreal forest exhibits.

Topiaries

These topiaries were decorative foliage in the original Zoo Tycoon. All 5 variations are present in this pack, being the spiral, bear, elephant, giraffe, and rhino.

US Flag

The United States flag was a bonus download for the original Zoo Tycoon, infamous for being hard to obtain. This flag will be sure to give an air of American freedom in your zoos!

North Africa Booster Pack

Featuring a variety of ZT1 bonus download objects, this collection of scenic desert objects is sure to truly wow your zoo guests with the added Saharan atmosphere.

Dinosaur Digs

These files are for content that under the standard "Dinosaur Digs" filter for the original Zoo Tycoon.

Woolly Mammoth

The Mammoth is the first animal that's part of the Forgotten Animals Pack, It comes from Zoo Tycoon 1's Dinosaur Digs expansion. They roam the tundra biome and requires 4.5 stars to unlock in Challenge/Campaign Mode.

Apatosaurus

Apatosaurus ajax was apart of the Dinosaur Digs expansion for Zoo Tycoon. It's so big, many zoo tycoons will struggle to properly house it! Credit to HENDRIX for the animations, rig, and fossils! Special thanks to Lgcfm for help with the footstep sound coding!

Spinosaurus

The Spinosaurus was an animal for Zoo Tycoon: Dinosaur Digs. It was the largest carnivorous dinosaur known. Credit to MMM for the base model!


Macrauchenia

The Macrauchenia was a South American mammal that was apart of the Endangered Species pack for the original Zoo Tycoon. Though originally named the "long llama", it's currently uncertain what modern mammals these scrub-roaming oddities are related to. Credit to HENDRIX for the fossils!

Gallimimus

Gallimimus are large, ostrich-like dinosaurs that were a bonus download in Dinosaur Digs. They flocked in the late Cretaceous deserts of what is now the Gobi. Credit to MMM for the base animal and HENDRIX for the fossils!

Allosaurus

The Allosaurus is a Jurassic theropod from Zoo Tycoon's Dinosaur Digs expansion. Though not as large as Tyrannosaurus, this dinosaur was a top predator in the Morrison floodplains. At least one fossil showing Stegosaurus predation has been discovered, so it would be best to separate them! Credit to HENDRIX for the base fossils! Credit to Daubeny for the new model!

Ice Age Cave

The Ice Age cave is a special shelter for most Ice Age animals in the Dinosaur Digs expansion for the original Zoo Tycoon. Various extinct animals will be able to use this shelter, particularly ones that live in cold or temperate climates.

Herrerasaurus

The Herrerasaurus is an early dinosaur from the original Zoo Tycoon's Dinosaur Digs expansion pack. Though it resembles a theropod, this upper Triassic creature was an early shoot-off of the dinosaur lineage. They once roamed the rainforests of South American over 230 million years ago. Big thanks to Thom for help with bug fixing!

Plesiosaurus

The Plesiosaurus is a marine reptile from the original Zoo Tycoon's Dinosaur Digs expansion pack. Their long necks gave them a large feeding envelope to hunt fish in the reefs of the Jurassic period. Big thanks to Thom for help with bug fixing, HENDRIX for the animations, base fossil, and base model, and Austroraptor for the model edits!

Loch Ness Monster

The Loch Ness monster is a mysterious creature from the original Zoo Tycoon's Endangered Species theme pack. This elusive creature is well known, and even today there's still reports of it swimming in the chilly taiga waters of the Loch Ness. Big thanks to Thom for help with bug fixing, HENDRIX for the animations and base model, and Austroraptor for the model edits!

Caudipteryx

Caudipteryx is a relative of Oviraptor featured in Zoo Tycoon: Dinosaur Digs. These feathered dinosaurs hail from the temperate Yixian Formation in China, eating a wide variety of plants and small animals. Big thanks to Thom for help with bug fixing and to HENDRIX for his fossils, and NanoLancensis for the new location icon!

Museum Kit

The museum kit is a collection of fossil displays based on the skeletons seen in Dinosaur Digs. Included are 3 fossil displays and a museum rope fence. Big thanks to Thom for help with the fence gate!

Scenic Objects Pack

This pack includes a wide variety of objects from Zoo Tycoon: Dinosaur Digs, with the core connection being related to elements like steam, ice, and lava.

Marine Mania

These files are for content that under the standard "Marine Mania" filter for the original Zoo Tycoon.

Tiger Shark

The Tiger Shark was from Zoo Tycoon 1's Marine Mania expansion. The live in the Coastal Biome. They were one of the first mods that had to be post-phoned because a texture couldn't be made. Credit to Dannybob for the base animal.

Sperm Whale

The sperm whale was featured in the Marine Mania for the original Zoo Tycoon. They're the largest existing carnivores that actively hunt their prey. Males are nearly twice the length of females, an odd level of dimorphism not normally found in large whales!

Bowhead Whale

The bowhead whale was featured in the Endangered Species expansion for the original Zoo Tycoon. They hold the record for the largest mouth of any animal, making up a third of their 16+m length.

Humpback Whale

The humpback whale was an animal purchasable in the original Marine Mania expansion. This species is well know for its humped back and iconic vocalizations. They traverse pelagic waters across the globe. 

Great Hammerhead Shark

Only mentioned in the Zoopedia, the great hammerhead shark originated in the original Zoo Tycoon's Marine Mania expansion. They have a very generalized diet, hunting fish, squid, crustaceans, and even other sharks in Reefs across the globe. However, they've become endangered due to the rise of shark finning.

Atlantic Swordfish

The Atlantic swordfish was one of several free DLC animals for the original Zoo Tycoon. These are predatory fish, and use their elongated snouts to slash at they prey. While this specific group is found in the Atlantic ocean, swordfish live in reefs across the globe.

Northern Elephant Seal

The Northern elephant seal is an animal featured in the original Marine Mania. Though smaller than the Southern species, males can still weight over a ton. As the name suggests, they live in the Northern hemisphere, resting on warm coastal beaches before going off to hunt for fish and squid. Common Sawfish

The common sawfish is an extremely rare type of ray that was featured as a bonus download for the original Zoo Tycoon. Sawfish are well-known for their toothed nose extensions that help them forage for crustaceans in tropical waters. Credit to HENDRIX for the base model and animations, and to Zerosvalmont for the animations!

Shortfin Mako Shark

The shortfin mako shark is a large shark that was introduced in the original Marine Mania. This shark, like many others, is unfortunately a victim of shark-finning as it swims along the open ocean. 

Harbour Porpoise

Harbour porpoises are small dolphins, which were available in the original Marine Mania. Swimming around coastal waters, this friendly cetacean is a common sight for whale watchers. Harbour porpoises will be able to perform in marine shows. Thank you to Jorge Gabriel and LoliJuicy for helping with this animal!

Slender Giant Moray

The slender giant moray is a little-understood moray eel of confused origins in the original Zoo Tycoon. In real life, they stick by coastal waters  in the Indo-Pacific ocean where they hunt for small fish. This download also comes with a seafloor cave and sunken log so the eels are well well-enriched. Credit to HENDRIX for the base coding and animations!

Foliage Pack 3

A pack that contains several select foliage from the original Zoo Tycoon's Marine Mania expansion. Pack 3 has foliage preferred by marine animals (ex. common sawfish, Northern elephant seal).

Great Barracuda

The great barracuda is a predatory fish that was a bonus download for the original Zoo Tycoon. Barracudas are well-known for their aggression towards other sea creatures, especially smaller ones that they may eat! They are found all over the world in reefs where they can hide and ambush their prey. Credit to HENDRIX for the base animal!

Icy Keg

The Icy Keg is an enrichment item featured in the original Marine Mania. Normally used to store liquids, this keg stores ice to keep it cold to the touch. A variety of strong animals will enjoy swatting the keg.

Diving Statue

The diving statue is a scenery item from the original Zoo Tycoon's Marine Mania expansion pack. The diving statue will enhance the scenery of both marine exhibit, and land around your tanks. Big thanks to Thom for help with bug fixing!

Atlantic Bluefin Tuna

The Altantic bluefin tuna is a very large pelagic fish featured in Zoo Tycoon's Marine Mania expansion pack. Though usually not considered dangerous, these speedy swimmers are apex predators, and are rarely preyed upon by other predators like sharks and dolphins. Big thanks to Thom for help with bug fixing and to HENDRIX for his Hybodus animations!

Raft

This large inflatable raft will be sure to help your zoo's pinnipeds, penguins, and other marine animals well rested after swimming around.

Bonus Downloads

These files are for extra content with tangential relation to the original Zoo Tycoon.

Onager

One of three bonus animals that are part of the expansion, with the onager representing the main part of FA. Onagers are small equine related to the donkey. They are very adaptable and as such live in a variety of environments, including scrublands; deserts; and savannahs. Thanks to Harpagolestes-Immanis for help with the texture!

Kouprey

One of three bonus animals that are part of the expansion, with the kouprey representing the extinct part of FA. Koupreys have been so rarely seen in the wild, that many have assumed the species is extinct. They are an Asian bovine from the tropical rainforests, much like the water buffalo and giant gaur.

Green Moray

One of three bonus animals that are part of the expansion, with the green moray representing the marine part of FA. The green moray is a well-known moray eel of confused origins in the original Zoo Tycoon. In real life, they live in Atlantic coral reefs with lots of places to hide. They been known to bite of fingers of unlucky divers, so proceed with caution around this serpentine fish! It is recommended to download the slender giant moray, as it comes with objects that can best accommodate the green moray's needs. Credit to HENDRIX for the base coding and animations!
