The Plaridel Salubong Festival is a celebration  have always associated with St. James the Apostle, better known as Santiago Apostol to the people of my hometown, Plaridel, Bulacan. Santiago Apostol, the town’s patron saint, is the central figure of the festival, which takes place every December 29 as the start of a two-day fiesta in his honor.

On this day, parishioners and devotees from Plaridel and even distant places, including Manila, dress in traditional Filipino attire to participate in the grand tradition of fetching the image of Santiago Apostol from his residence in a small village in Plaridel.
