- Raising the federal minumum to $15 an hour.
- Create 500,000 units of quality, affordable housing in the next ten years.
- Close stock option loopholes and crack down on shell companies operating in tax havens.
- Establish a national suicide prevention action plan.
- Declare a national public health emergency for the opioid crisis.
. . . And more promises: Health, Housing, Military, & Rights!
Health
Providing $2.6 billion in new federal funding focused on universal public drug coverage, along with $80 million in dedicated funding to improve provincial-federal capacity for drug reviews, listing, joint pricing negotiations and improving safety by reducing inappropriate prescribing.
Housing
NDP has started 500,000 housing units that are safe and affordable, and they are using this to help the housing situation and to fight against money laundering in Canada.
Military
This promise has gone on from 2011. The NDP plan to reinforce the military for peacekeeping and to defend Canada, but also maintain spending but never changing the laws of the military and the salary would probably stay the same.
Rights
The NDP plan on supporting internet and general privacy by enforcing better security on both platforms, but this is research.
Cariboo-chilcotin candidate for the NDP
Heather Sapergia is our candidate in the NDP for our riding, No. 4.
A recently retired health science professional, she is a long time resident of Prince George.
She's worked with the RCMP Victim Services, and worked with both the Prince George Cycling and Rod and Gun clubs.
guns control
The NDP is asking the Liberal party to help them with gun control in Canada, and a handgun ban throughout the country.
immigration
They have been giving support to the IRB (Immigration and Refugee Board) of Canada.
carbon tax
They plan on changing the emissions to 70 cents instead of keeping the 90 that means companies have to pay up more with larger portions and by this means they will gain control of gas pricing and having it raised up 4.4 cents more by default.
