Right so my name is not actually Blake, it's Sarah kinda funny that my best friend and I have the same name. Well, Blake is my nickname, my sorority little thought of it, and ever since then, I have loved it. And now professionally I go by Blake, I kind of think of the name as an alter ego or superhero cover it has definitely given me a lot more confidence and room to be myself. I also love the name because my little chose it, I had never really had a nickname before then so it's special and near and dear to my heart.
Now about my early life, I am 3rd generation Colorado native but when I grow up I plan on moving to the pacific northwest coast (Washington so I can be like Bella Swan) or (Oregon the home of my beloved UO Ducks). I grew up on a farm on the eastern plains of Colorado. And no this was not some huge farm with a billion animals, this was a small family farm with a few cows, goats, horses, and like a hundred chickens. There are times when I miss living on a farm but then I remember getting up at like 4 am and all that nostalgia goes out the window. I am a suburban girly who likes to get up at 7:30 at the earliest and take my morning drive to Starbucks.
Now living on the farm and having to be resourceful I like to think of myself as someone who knows very little about a lot of things. I have my few obsessions but I could never just do one thing. I have tons of hobbies, my only problem is I lose interest quickly so some never stick around long enough to even call them hobbies. So what am I saying here, I’m pretty much down for anything, anytime, anywhere.
One thing about me is I will get all the movies, tv shows, and music references. So put me in the late-night trivia club. Movies, music, and tv shows are something my family and I bond over. From old black-and-white movies to freshly released ones. And making references is just something I can't live without. I pride myself on getting and making the references (a little bit too much) but how can I not, it kills my FOMO.
Some of my favorite movies, tv shows, and bands :
Pulp Fiction / Wayne’s World / Indiana Jones / Any older batman movie
Supernatural / TVD / Bones / HTGAWM / Sex Lives of College Girls / Gilmore Girls
Led Zeppelin / ArcticMonkeys / Bob Seger / Hozier / Hannah Montana (duh)
Another thing about me I am what some would call a “car girl”. My dad and I are very similar but don't see eye to eye but when working on cars we are completely in sync. I love working on cars and driving cars, and sometimes I even like the smells of the chemicals used on cars (a lil TMI I know but I’m not ashamed). If someone came up to me and said to pick any car I want completely free, I would wholeheartedly say an Audi R8 Spyder. I have been in love with this car ever since I saw on at a Cars & Coffee meet. It's just a beautiful car.
But if I could fill a garage here others I would add:
1967 Chevy Impala, 1999 Jeep Wrangler, 2020 Nissan GTR, 1994 Toyota Supra.. and probably a butt-load more
Just want to say to all my fellow readers: Hello, I love the little community we have! Now I actually hated reading when I was a kid, but I honestly think it's because teachers forced me to read. But now I can barely go a couple of days without picking up a book. My preferred genre is romance, yes I know classic but what can I say (I’m a little bit of a hopeless romantic). But I also love a good crime or mystery. And sometimes I find myself drifting to the classics and poetry. Like I said I have a lot of hobbies, well I also have a lot of different tastes.
I live in Colorado so how could I not love the outdoors? As a kid, my family and I use to camping like five or six times in the summer. Now that I am older I love taking a road trips to the mountains or the lake and setting up camp with my friends. It really brings out the tv show contestant on “Survivor” out in me.
I also enjoy hikes but I call them adventure walks because just like a kid I look for cool rocks, sticks and bugs. But I also like to get off the trail and go looking for “trouble” (as my mom would say) which is fun but dangerous considering I have no sense of direction. I think my mom thought I was gonna grow up and be some kinda jungle scientist.
I think I’ve proven myself trivia-wise but I love a good game night. I love hosting, playing and of course, winning. Monopoly is at the top of my list, my brother, dad and I can play from sun up to sun down, with just one game. I love monopoly and I have four different types. But I also love a good classic like Clue or even newer games like Cards Against Humanity. Honestly, anything that gives me a shot of coming out a winner has my interest peaked.
