Tech Cards

This page is dedicated to cards that help make Nekroz itself function. These are almost mandatory for making your deck the best it can be!

Kaleidoscope Fodder

When forming a Nekroz Extra Deck, the first things to look for are fodder for Nekroz Kaleidoscope. You're most commonly summoning your monsters using Kaleidoscope and then bridging into further combos, so you should aim to find cards that you can plus from.

Float effects are bolded.

Herald of the Arc Light

1 Tuner + 1+ non-Tuner monsters

Any monster sent from the hand or Main Deck to the GY is banished instead. When a Spell/Trap Card, or monster effect, is activated (Quick Effect): You can Tribute this card; negate the activation, and if you do, destroy that card. If this card is sent to the GY: You can add 1 Ritual Monster or 1 Ritual Spell from your Deck to your hand.

--

One of the best cards the deck can use, and practically a Nekroz monster in how well it synergises with the deck. When sent with Kaleidoscope, it gets you any ritual monster or spell, allowing you to either get more Nekroz cards or bridge into different archetypes as is seen in Dogmatika builds. Not only that, but in builds using Ritual Sanctuary, Herald is often summoned as an omninegate, so it isn't just fodder either. You're usually resolving this multiple times per turn, as it's not once per turn, so get used to it.

Never run at any less than 3 unless the banlist prevents you from doing so in the future.

Elder Entity N'Tss

1 Synchro Monster + 1 Xyz Monster

Must be Special Summoned (from your Extra Deck) by sending the above cards you control to the GY. (You do not use "Polymerization".) Once per turn: You can Special Summon 1 Level 4 monster from your hand. If this card is sent to the GY: You can target 1 card on the field; destroy it. You can only Special Summon "Elder Entity N'tss(s)" once per turn.

---

This turns Kaleidoscope into spot removal alongside Unicore, and since Unicore hits the field before N'Tss activates, it's also capable of bypassing effects. This is incredibly powerful going second if you can't afford to go for Brionac or need to remove an important monster, and allows Nekroz to break boards that some decks struggle mightily with. Note that it isn't once per turn, either.

Run at 2-3.

Fossil Warrior Skull Knight

1 Rock monster + 1 Level 5 or 6 monster

Must first be Special Summoned with "Fossil Fusion". If this card attacks a Defense Position monster, inflict piercing battle damage. When this attacking card destroys a monster by battle: You can activate this effect; this card can make a second attack in a row. You can banish this card from your GY, then target 1 monster on the field; destroy it. You can only use this effect of "Fossil Warrior Skull Knight" once per turn.

---

Normally used alongside Brionac to act as a pseudo-triple removal, but it all targets, which can be bothersome. Note that unlike N'Tss, Skull Knight doesn't automatically trigger, making it more flexible. Additionally, since it banishes itself, Prima Donna can recur it if you're using her alongside it.

Run at 1.

There is a Spell/Trap version of this called Fossil Machine Skull Wagon, which can be used in decks that need more leverage against back row decks. It has the same level, so it also functions with Brionac.

El Shaddoll Apkallone (alongside Naelshaddoll Ariel)

2 "Shaddoll" monsters with different Attributes

Must first be Fusion Summoned. Cannot be destroyed by battle. You can only use each of the following effects of "El Shaddoll Apkallone" once per turn.

â—Ź If this card is Special Summoned: You can target 1 face-up card on the field; negate its effects.

â—Ź If this card is sent to the GY: You can add 1 "Shaddoll" card from your Deck or GY to your hand, then discard 1 card.

---

Apkallone works well alongside Brionac or Dogmatika Punishment, the latter of which is commonly used in, well, Dogmatika builds. By adding and discarding Naelshaddoll Ariel, you can banish up to 3 cards from the opponent's graveyard, which can give a significant lead in the grind game. For example, Destiny Hero - Destroyer Phoenix Enforcer can be destroyed by Punishment and subsequently banished by Ariel, which can be game-defining. Additionally, Apkallone can send itself back to the Extra Deck without resolving the discard effect, providing infinite White Knight, Kaleidoscope + Brionac, and Dogmatika Punishment fodder on its own.

Many Apkallone uses involve summoning Winda with Schism, but due to Unicore negating its effects, it's rarely necessary and should not be considered a staple in the deck.

Run both Apkallone and Ariel at 1, primarily in Dogmatika builds. Run Winda and Schism by preference, but know that you can't summon Unicore alongside it.

Wind Pegasus @Ignister

1 Tuner + 1+ non-Tuner monsters

During your Main Phase: You can destroy Spells/Traps your opponent controls, up to the number of "@Ignister" monsters you control. If another card(s) you control is destroyed by battle or an opponent's card effect, while this card is on the field or in the GY: You can banish this card, then target 1 card your opponent controls; shuffle it into the Deck. You can only use each effect of "Wind Pegasus @Ignister" once per turn.

---

Wind Pegasus is a neat pick as a contingency plan if Unicore gets destroyed, allowing for additonal interruption. Being level 7, it can allow Kaiedoscope to summon Unicore and Clausolas at once, creating a neat board that makes Unicore very difficult to beat over in decks centred around the Extra Deck.

Run at 1.

Deep Sea Prima Donna

1 Tuner + 1+ non-Tuner monsters

Your opponent cannot target a Synchro Monster that used this card as material with monster effects. You can only use each of the following effects of "Deep Sea Prima Donna" once per turn.

â—Ź You can target 1 of your opponent's banished cards; add to your hand, or Special Summon, 1 Level 4 or lower WATER monster from your Deck, and if you do, add that target to their hand.

â—Ź If this card is sent to the GY: You can target 1 banished card; shuffle it into the Deck.

---

Shuffling a banished card back is very helpful in Dogmatika builds, allowing for the deck to enter an effectively infinite resource loop alongside PSY-Framelord Omega.

Run at 1 in most Nekroz builds.

Titaniklad the Ash Dragon (Nekroz Dogmatika only)

"Fallen of Albaz" + 1 monster with 2500 or more ATK

Gains ATK equal to the combined original Levels of the monsters used for its Fusion Summon x 100. After this card is Fusion Summoned, for the rest of this turn, it is unaffected by the activated effects of any other monsters Special Summoned from the Extra Deck. During the End Phase, if this card is in the GY because it was sent there this turn: You can add to your hand, or Special Summon, 1 "Fallen of Albaz" or "Dogmatika" monster from your Deck. You can only use this effect of "Titaniklad the Ash Dragon" once per turn.

---

Gets you to Ecclesia and/or Fleurdelis after being sent for the summoning of White Knight of Dogmatika, allowing for an extra negate after your combo. Just don't forget it, as it's like Scarm in that it triggers in the End Phase.

PSY-Framelord Omega

1 Tuner + 1+ non-Tuner monsters

Once per turn, during the Main Phase (Quick Effect): You can banish both this face-up card from the field and 1 random card from your opponent's hand, face-up, until your next Standby Phase. Once per turn, during your opponent's Standby Phase: You can target 1 banished card; return it to the GY. If this card is in your GY: You can target 1 other card in the GY; shuffle both that card and this card from the GY into the Deck.

---

Omega is flexible in that it can shuffle back both banished cards and graveyard cards while recurring itself, making for a very strong resource loop that's difficult for many decks to contest. In Nekroz Dogmatika, it's also a level 8 target for White Knight of Dogmatika, the boss monster of the deck.

It should be noted that summoning Omega is feasible if running PSY-Framegear Gamma + Driver, as many Nekroz combos start with a spell or discard. If using Omega, it's strongly recommended to main deck 3 Gamma + 1 Driver.

Run at 1 in every conventional Nekroz Extra Deck.

The Diviner Package

Diviner of the Herald x3 + Cyber Egg Angel x1 + Ritual Sanctuary x1

This is the most popular Normal Summon in modern Nekroz, and for good reason: it's very powerful if allowed to resolve. By using Diviner as a tribute for Brionac, Cyber Egg Angel can be summoned from the deck to get Ritual Sanctuary active alongside fodder with one card. This gives Nekroz a formidable grind game that can be quite difficult to stop, while Ritual Sanctuary itself also serves as a bridge between archetypes if you're running builds like Nekroz Dogmatika, which the spell just so happens to synergise with. This should be played in most, if not all Nekroz builds.

Your standard combo looks like this:

  1. Normal Summon Diviner of the Heralds

  2. Send Herald of the Arc Light, search for Nekroz of Brionac (Diviner is now Level 6)

  3. Use Nekroz of Brionac to search Nekroz of Clausolas, which then searches Nekroz Cycle

  4. Use Nekroz Cycle to tribute Diviner of the Heralds for Nekroz of Brionac.

  5. Use Diviner's effect to Special Summon Cyber Egg Angel and search Ritual Sanctuary.

If you have a Spell in hand that you don't need, discard it with Ritual Sanctuary to search for a LIGHT Ritual Monster or Ritual Spell. This gives enough spells in grave to re-summon Diviner of the Heralds and Synchro Summon a Herald of the Arc Light, thus giving you an omninegate with "1.5" cards.

There are valid Small World Bridges in Dogmatika decks through using Nekroz of Unicore + Dogmatika Maximus / Fleurdelis, which get you to Diviner, though this will be a -1 in card economy and may require set-up, so only use this in decks that urgently need it.

The Dogmatika Package

2-3 Ecclesia, 1-2 Maximus, 1 Fleurdelis, 1 Punishment, 1 Titaniklad

1 White Knight, 1 Dogmatikalamity

1 White Relic, 1-2 Dogmatikamacabre, 3 Pre-Preparation of Rites

2 Nadir Servant

The Dogmatika have a strong Ritual boss monster in White Knight of Dogmatika that allows for strong control builds to come forth. They have remarkable synergy with Nekroz, being an anti-Extra Deck focused archetype that dumps from its own to gain advantage. Combined with the Diviner package, Nekroz Dogmatika has a lot to offer. It's generally quite intuitive and can allow for many more interruptions than what a pure Nekroz build can offer, while appreciating the presence of Unicore to keep Extra Deck monsters from getting out of hand.

Optionally, for a more heavy Dogmatika focus, their Battle of Chaos releases - White Relic of Dogmatika and Dogmatikamacabre - can be included in the deck, alongside Pre-Preparation of Rites. White Relic is a neat beatstick that can boost Unicore or itself to high attack values, while having a neat on-field effect that saps the opponent's Extra Deck more and protects White Knight.

The following is a skeleton of the deck, which can be used to quickly produce a good list;

The Drytron Package

Drytron builds typically run 1 Delta, 2 Gamma, 3 Zeta, 3 Alpha, 1 Benten, 3 Cyber Emergency, 1 Foolish Burial, 3 Nova, 3 Preparation of Rites, 1 Draitron, and 2 Fafnir. This is normally coupled with their Beta-Fafnir Xyz monster, as well as a Zeus package. However, the deck is more of a Drytron deck than a Nekroz deck.

When playing Drytron Nekroz with a small Nekroz engine, you're typically using Brionac to set up a Schism play to summon El Shaddoll Winda, which acts as a very strong floodgate. El Shaddoll Apkallone can search Shaddoll Schism, allowing the play to be made, and since it's level 6, Brionac and Kaleidoscope sends it.

You can, however, run heavier Nekroz numbers with the aim of using Unicore to control the game. In which case, decklists akin to the scuffed one on the right are feasible.

Preparation of Rites

Add 1 Level 7 or lower Ritual Monster from your Deck to your hand, then you can add 1 Ritual Spell from your GY to your hand.

---

This searches every Nekroz ritual monster at Gungnir's level and below, including Brionac and Unicore, and is thus a staple in the deck. Adding back Nekroz Kaleidoscope while adding Brionac allows for extremely powerful follow-up plays after Turn 1, and it also has amazing synergy with Ritual Sanctuary for making its search effect "costless".

It should be noted that because of how Preparation of Rites is worded, it can be hit with Ghost Belle & Haunted Mansion's negation effect in addition to cards like Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring. This is for the same reason as Nadir Servant, as it doesn't check for cards in the graveyard.

Run at 3 in every Nekroz deck.

Archlord Kristya / Vanity's Ruler + Cyber Angel Benten

With the sheer amount of Fairy monsters put in the graveyard, Archlord Krystia and Vanity's Ruler are reasonably easy to summon, especially when used with Cyber Angel Benten. Benten is conveniently Level 6, which happens to be the same level as Brionac, thus allowing for incredibly easy access to the big beaters.

Kristya is generally more recommended for the fact it's a bit harder to out, doesn't spend a Normal Summon, and recurs a Fairy; eg. Artifact Lancea, Diviner, etc. There's also easy access if you have a Diviner of the Herald on hand, as you can overlay it and Brionac for Beatrice to send a Fairy to the grave and access it. However, Vanity's Ruler is easier to access in Impcantation builds given the Impcantation monsters provide tribute fodder, and it's also one-sided. Whichever you choose, both of these make fine win conditions.

Other Normal Summons

Good Normal Summons in Nekroz come down to the variant you're playing. We've already gone over Vanity's Ruler and Dogmatika Ecclesia, which are your main options, but there are others worth noting here.

Manju of the Ten Thousand Hands

When this card is Normal or Flip Summoned: You can add 1 Ritual Monster or 1 Ritual Spell from your Deck to your hand.

---

This was the main Normal Summon of the deck for a very long time, and it still works fairly well as a budget option. It searches any of your Ritual Monsters or Spells, and that's it, which is kind of the problem: it's very outdated. Use this if you can't afford Diviner, but even then, you should probably be looking to the Dragonmaids or something else.

The Dragonmaid Package

Dragonmaids can be inserted into the deck to turbo out Hieratic Seal of the Heavenly Spheres, a powerful negation tool that works under Nekroz of Unicore. These produce a near-Zeus immune deck that has a powerful, difficult-to-out interruption. This video by Rebirth of Shien gives detailed insight into the package.

To perform this, you run 3 Parlor, 2 Chamber, 2-3 Tidying, and 1 Hospitality. Spheres should be run at 1 or 2 alongside 1 Striker Dragon. Parlor and Chamber's ratios can be swapped by preference. Ko'aki Meiru Drago can be sided to prevent the summoning of Light or Dark monsters, which Spheres can easily summon. The fusions are unnecessary and don't need to be run, you're using this for Spheres.

The following sample combo gets you to Spheres, but the engine provides numerous other methods;

  1. Normal Summon Chamber Dragonmaid, search Dragonmaid Hospitality

  2. Link Chamber Dragonmaid for Striker Dragon

  3. Use Dragonmaid Hospitality to revive Chamber Dragonmaid

  4. Link both off for Heavenly Spheres

In this scenario, Striker Dragon can be used as fodder to Dogmatika Maximus in Dogmatika Nekroz Dragonmaid variants, which allows for powerful boards involving Spheres, Unicore, and Fleurdelis.

Note that Heavenly Spheres can tribute itself for its effect, allowing it to not only work under Unicore, but also special summon another Dragonmaid and send Tidying, thus allowing for further set-up and exceptional resilience. Just a Spheres on the board is very, very powerful. In Nekroz specifically, it can tribute other cards, such as Diviner, to get more effects off if need-be, though this is extremely niche.

Lefty & Righty Driver

Righty Driver: For a Synchro Summon, you can substitute this card for any 1 "Synchron" Tuner. If this card is Normal Summoned: You can Special Summon 1 "Lefty Driver" from your hand, Deck, or GY. You can only use this effect of "Righty Driver" once per turn.

Lefty Driver: If this card is Special Summoned: You can make this card become Level 3 until the end of this turn. During your Main Phase, except the turn this card was sent to the GY: You can banish this card from your GY; add 1 "Righty Driver" from your Deck to your hand. You can only use this effect of "Lefty Driver" once per turn.

--

Righty Driver makes for a good generic Normal Summon, allowing you to easily access Crystron Halqifibrax or Herald of the Arc Light once it summons Lefty. Using these usually requires a bit of forethought into the end board you're planning; Halqifibrax tends to be more fragile and vulnerable to hand traps, Herald is more consistent and works under Unicore. Righty Driver has a lot of 1-card combos here, so experiment and see what you can pull off.
