I grew up on the unceded, ancestral, traditional territories of the Musqueam, Squamish, and Tsleil-Waututh peoples in what is now known as Vancouver.
sən̓aʔqʷ, the area colonially named the Burrard Inlet, is historically home to many Musqueam villages and was an important location that connected waterways, trails, and histories to other villages. The area was an essential fishing and hunting area, where families would live and hunt elk and waterfowl and fish salmon, sturgeon, and smelt.
