The Mothar Mountain Hall, located in the The Gympie region of Queensland, was built in 1957. It serves as a community centre and is used for various events and activities. The hall committee actively works on maintaining the hall and organising events. The name "Mothar Mountain" is believed to have originated from the Aboriginal word "Mud'har", possibly meaning "ghost or "evil spirit", possibly referring to the low covering mist that often covers the peaks of both Boulder and Mothar Mountains and the surrounding range.
The Mothar Mountain Provisional School, which later became a State School, opened in 1908 and closed in 1970, and was located on land opposite the current hall. There is more information regarding the school.
The area has Indigenous history, and the nearby Mothar Mountain rock pools (at the end of Hill Road at the join of Boulder and Woondum Creeks) reportedly were used for initiation ceremonies for Kabi Kabi boys.
