This page is dedicated to documenting why and how Lorakani was created and explain the decisions made in its creation. while there were attempts at the creation of an autistic language before Lorakani they were fairly simple and didn't seem specifically tailored for autistic people.
The first example of a design choice some may find strange is our decision to use 5 cases. Grammatical cases are generally seen as a difficult feature of languages to learn however we believe they are necessary. One of the reasons for this is how English sentances can have multiple meanings depending on the tone of certain words, which autistic people can find hard to use. This example https://magazine.nd.edu/stories/autism-and-tone-of-voice/ goes over an instance where cases would be use full. The example shows the sentence "You can feel the frog with the feather " and demonstrates how depending on which word is emphasised the sentence changes meanings. What is going on in the brain, behind the scenes so to speak, is the sentence can have two different case markings applied to it. Either "You(Nominative) can feel the frog(accusative) with the feather(instrumental)" or "You(Nominative) can feel the frog(accusative) with the feather(dative)." The sentence either means the frog has a feather or you can touch the frog using a feather. While more words or more careful word choice could be used by having cases the communication is more efficient. Let's take a look at the same sentence but in Lorakani.
For using the feather it would be:
You(n) frog(n)
