What We Do

This land is long overdue for a longhouse or plank house

From 1910 to 2019 in Chemakum Territory, it was illegal to own or build a Longhouse. We are looking forward to building one and I think our ancestors have been waiting.

We plan to build a traditional style Longhouse in Chemakum territory. While also making trails and traditional food gardens. To bring back our history. As a local mixed tribal woman I chose an area where many of my ancestors have lived since time immemorial We plan on creating a gathering space in our community for indigenous and non-indigenous people to gather. As an educational space as well as, a space for potlatches, and celebrations. Including goals of forming an Indigenous led land trust. We recently purchased 11.5 acres of land. Thank you to all who supported us! And made this happen. Much Love.

“I see Longhouses as places where the wounds of both colonization and long-standing tribal conflict can be healed."
