Here are some problems that kittens face.
Kittens face 4 main problems - Diseases, Homelessness, Behavioral issues, and Injuries.
Problem One - Diseases
Kittens face many diseases, such as infections, immune disorders, worms, Fleas, Ear Mites, types of cancer, kidney disorders, and Panleuk.
Dakota Estes suffered from a disease called Feline Juvenile Stomatitis (FJS), which caused her baby gums to become inflamed, leading to a loss of teeth.
Cinder developed Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV). Due to this, he is highly susceptible to all kinds of infections, illness, and diseases. This virus is highly contagious to other cats.
Poor Babbles has suffered through his share of misfortunes. He was diagnosed hyperthyroidism, which causes him fluctuate in weight, his lowest being 5 and his highest being 13 pounds. Even though he was cured, he suffered from an ear infection. He has also been diagnosed with beginning stage kidney failure.
Finnegan suffered from a disease called Feline Infectious Peritonitis (FIP), but has since then been treated. FIP causes upper respiratory symptoms and occasional diarrhea.
Gordon has developed a chronic inflamation in his mouth. Due to this, he has to take monthly injections and eat a special diet.
Isis sufferes from several things - a paralyzed larynx, bladder cychothis, and kidney issues. Her first issue (the larynx) causes breathing issues and requires medication. Her bladder problems also requires medication, and the kidney issues need a specialized diet.
Guppy is a playful sweetheart that suffers from moderate Cerebral Hypoplasia. Because of this, he wobbles when he steps.
Bubbles is one of Guppy's littermates, and sufferes from the exact same condition.
Fitz has what is quite possibly the most depressing story out of all these cats. He and all of his litter mates developed a dieses called Panleuk, a dieses that targets the cells in a cats Lymph Nodes, Intestines, Bone Marrow, and White Blood Cells. This severely lowers a cat's immune system. Fitz's litter contracted this dieses. Every kitten in his litter passed away except him. He is doing fine now.
Problem Two - Stray
While being a stray cat might not seem like a big deal, it is a major problem in the kitten world. Being stray can lead to all sorts of issues.
El Toro Loco is a stray cat that was forced to raise her litter under a dumpster. Fortunately, her and her litter are ok and safe.
As a stray, Cinder lived in a city and was constantly suffering from various scratches and scars. He was also emotionally scarred.
When Vavoline was an extreamly young kitten, he got stuck under some heavy macinery. He was trapped for 3 days. During that time, the builders fed him and helped him until he was freed. He was then taken to Celestial Zoo.
Much like El Toro Loco, Nylon was also forced to raise her kittens as strays. Luckily for her, she was rescued before her kittens suffered any injuries.
Problem Three - Behavioral Issues
While Behavioral issues may not seem like a big deal, these cats are afraid of people, which can contribute to a lack of adoption and an increase in euthanasia rates in shelters.
Suki comes from an excessive hording situation. Due to this, she prefers to be outside, and hates being around other cats.
Cinder lived on the streets for most of his life, and he still hasn't quite adapted to people yet. He is quite skittish and not a huge people cat.
Stevie is very shy around young children, and doesn't do well around other cats and pets.
Cheerio suffered from a mental issue, which left him mildly agressive towards other cats and dogs.
Problem Three - Injuries
Just like with people, injuries are serious issues in the feline world.
When Avery was a kitten, she suffered a spinal injury. This injury was not adressed fast enough, so now she is left with little control in her back legs.
Cinder suffers from a crooked back leg and a broken toe. Both of these injuries are due to his life as a stray.
Poor Gelato suffered from a broken tail before she was rescued and it healed.
