Data visualization plays a pivotal role in rendering complex data understandable through visual representation. Studies consistently affirm its efficacy in enhancing comprehension and retention rates, with visual information being processed significantly faster than text—research indicates that 90% of transmitted data to the brain is visual. Moreover, educational studies demonstrate that students exposed to visual data representations perform markedly better on comprehension assessments compared to those presented with text-only information.
Further substantiating its importance, a survey conducted by Forbes reveals that 74% of businesses consider data visualization crucial for informed decision-making. Beyond its cognitive benefits, data visualization fosters effective communication and collaboration by providing stakeholders with a common language to interpret and discuss insights.
In essence, data visualization transcends mere aesthetics; it serves as a cornerstone for extracting actionable insights from data, simplifying complexity, and empowering decision-makers in navigating the intricacies of today's data-driven landscape.

Reviews of Data Visualization Tools for Education
These results were provided by Mentimeter.com which is a site where you can create Word Clouds that demonstrate the most common answers as larger text and the least common as smaller text. Keep in mind that when you do not have closed options there will be errors like spelling or participants not reading the expectations.
This demonstrates a visual representation of data as opposed to charts and graphs to demonstrate the most or least common choices.
The following image demonstrates the raw data that was used to create this word cloud.
Canva is an amazing teaching tool and the data visualization capabilities with this tool are incredible. They are more traditional forms of data visualization regarding graphs, pie charts, and scatter plots. However, these are still extremely valuable and they do have some newer forms of data visualization as well.

The Verso app offers two principal features designed to enhance classroom engagement, both utilizing data visualizations:
Anonymous Class Discussions: Educators can create tasks for students to respond to anonymously. This feature not only encourages open and honest feedback but also allows students to view their peers' responses. Verso encourages teachers to include specific contextual and academic vocabulary within these tasks. The app then gathers these words from student responses into word clouds, where the size of each word indicates its frequency of use. This visual display reveals the core themes of the students' responses, emphasizing the vocabulary and concepts they are engaging with.
Student "Check-Ins": Verso enables educators to perform "check-ins" with their students, who respond to a series of question prompts. These check-ins provide a quick overview of students' understanding of the learning objectives and their emotional response to the learning process. The app visually represents this data in various forms, such as dot matrix charts, stacked bar graphs, and word clouds. By analyzing these visualizations, educators can identify broader trends, such as the overall confidence level of the class and how it correlates with students' preferences for the direction of future lessons.
Prezi - ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Prezi is a very user-friendly tool, offering users the ability to create presentations and visuals with ease. Users can create visuals, including basic graphs and more animated options, that display and compare multiple data sets. While the free version is limited in terms of download formats, upgrades that allow for more sophisticated and animated formats is reasonably priced.
This example depicts the results of two survey questions that some of you responded to earlier last week. With a paid account, users can download clickable and animated GIFs to compare results.
Users can select formats, animations, data sizes, and more. Projects can incorporate video, graphics, images and other additions to create very useful data visualizations.
