Hello! My name is Helena Musson, and I'm the Editor in Chief for the Icon. I'm currently in Grade 10 at Westdale Secondary School in Hamilton, Ontario. I met most of the Icon's team through Model United Nations, which has offered me a glimspe into an entirely new world and has shaped my ideas for the future. I've always loved learning about history and the world around me, so I hope you enjoy your visist to the Icon!
Hey there! My name is Aryan, I'm a first-year Social Sciences student at the University of Toronto, and I intend to major in Political Science with minors in History and English. I've always wanted to learn more about the world we live in and the people who lead us, which helped grow my interest in politics and global affairs at a young age. This interest was further catapulted by my involvement in Model UN during high school, bringing me to where I am today. My goal with this project is to spark an interest in domestic and global affairs for you, the reader, so I hope you enjoy it!
My goal with "The Icon" was to create a political editorial where I could share my thoughts on socio-political issues within Canada and abroad. I've always liked writing, whether it be essays or background guides for Model UN.
Writing about politics is one thing, understanding it is a whole different problem. In the ever-growing world of rampant misinformation, I wanted to create a platform to express my political opinions and share them with my friends. That's how this project came about.
One thing that is always crucial to an author's success is feedback. If you ever have any questions/comments to make on my work, or just want to chat, feel free to reach out to any of my socials or send an email: theiconnews2024@gmail.com.
