Upon retiring I was looking forward to plunge into my woodwork hobby. All went well until at the onset of winter it became too cold for me to work in a backyard shed, so I had to find an alternative. My wife came up with the excellent idea of taking up painting and so she bought me a course of instruction at at a local art school. After one course I went in for another and still another until I had honed my skills enough to be accepted as member of a group of artists. Nowadays since I have the History of Malta at heart, many times I choose a subject with a Maltese scene or building from the past to paint.

Apart from the actual painting, I am usually very curious about the history and development of the scene at hand, so I am compelled to do some research about the subject. In the following pages one can find a few historical notes and comments about each of my subjects presented on canvas. I will also include diverse photos to complement my ideas on the subject.
