Thank you for visiting! I hope you will find this site useful in your teaching.
Katherine Ruth Heyman wrote more than 70 compositions, including the songs for solo voice and piano included here. The songs are varied in style and do not form any kind of cycle, having been composed from 1902 through 1934 for a variety of purposes. Some were published; others remain in manuscript.
On the Downloads page, you will find a packet of scores both with and without annotations, and recordings of thirteen of the songs for solo voice and piano. My colleagues at West Liberty University performed the songs; information about them is on the About the Performers page. I have made a Spreadsheet that lists many of the concepts I have found in this music. To sort or filter the spreadsheet, click the pop-out link to open it in another window. To learn more about Heyman, please see my brief Biography of the composer, including a bibliography of relevant scholarship.
