I’m Jami, a K–2 STEM educator at Nantucket Elementary School and doctoral student at the University of Central Arkansas. The Glass Tide began as a simple way to honor the sea glass I collected on daily beach walks and has grown into something more meaningful—a way to support my graduate studies while sharing pieces of this island I’ve come to love.
Originally from Santiago, Chile, I was raised in Western Massachusetts, surrounded by the trees, trails, and quiet beauty of the Pioneer Valley. My summers were spent on Cape Cod, where sea glass collecting became a ritual—one rooted in patience, curiosity, and a deep appreciation for the way time and nature shape something ordinary into something lasting.
While I spent time on Martha’s Vineyard over the years, it wasn’t until two years ago, when I accepted my teaching position, that I found my way to Nantucket. It didn’t take long for the island to feel like home. The rhythm of the tides, the shifting light, and the stories carried in each piece of glass continue to inspire both my work and my teaching.
Each piece I create is one of a kind—shaped by the ocean, gathered with intention, and designed to carry a small piece of Nantucket with it. Whether you’re taking a bit of the island home or sharing it with someone you love, my hope is that each piece holds a sense of place, memory, and quiet beauty.
