This project is aimed to promote the inclusion to school life of disadvantaged students, the risk of dropping out, with special needs by helping them to promote their integration into the education and society.
Five schools from Greece, Romania, Spain, Slovakia and Turkey are collaborating in the project. The project concerns pupils aged 11-15. It is focused on the early school leaving problem and combating failure in school, lack of social inclusion, lack of basic skills, lack of parental support and finally lack of socio-economical needs. Its target is to envolve all the pupils in school life, by art, game, storytelling and acting. Creating art and games, creating and narrating stories and acting, are all going to improve their self esteem and socialization and make a school an appealing place for all children.
It was a short term exchange activities for pupils to implement the topics (strategies) and all the subtopics of the project and working cooperatively. Working in mixed groups with students from different countries and using Peer Learning improved their English level and social skills and promoted their self-esteem. In addition, they became more aware and sensitive to European values.
In order to succed its main target, more desirable goals could be achieved. Children of 6 different European countries knew each other 's culture, not by pasively learning but through creating art, acting and gaming, methods that promote self-action and interaction.
Working in mixed international groups and utilizing Peer Learning made students develop the following skills:
Communication in mother tongue.
Communication in foreign language.(English)
Learning to learn.
Social and civic competence.
Sense of initiative and entrepreneurship.
Cultural awareness and expression.
In addition, they became more aware and sensitive to European values. The implementation of the project combined Culture items and Information and Communications Technology (ICT), resulting in an improvement of digital competence.
The students worked in international circles. The first activities aimed to make students and schools to know each other, and to create a logo. The students kept in touch on the eTwinning group to prepare, carry out, evaluate and develop the activties planned at the LTTA Project Meetings.
