Styx Initial 2D Concepts
Styx is by all definitions a cyborg, retaining his human brain, heart, lungs, and several other key organs necessary for biological survival. The rest of his body is completely robotic, giving him increased strength and functions, as well as an ability to regenerate his human organs (effectively granting/cursing him with eternal life). However, it is hard to classify whether Styx can still be called human, not only because of his body but because of the countless years of isolation spent roaming the abandoned ruins of human civilization. Because Styx is a one-of-a-kind model constructed an unknown number of years ago, not much is known on who created him and what was his original purpose. He now finds purpose in discovering and escorting "lost souls," or rogue droids containing cloned human consciousnesses, to the central Ark-Net Sphere Server, where supposedly the rest of humanity exists in eternal digital reality. Due to Styx's older model type and his possession of a physical human brain, he lacks the ability to upload himself to the server, binding him to the physical world to roam the city and world left behind by humanity.

Kid Initial 2D Concepts
C.C.I.D (Cloned Conscience Incubator Droid), or Kid for short, is a standard model of data transport droid that was originally designed to be A.I. piloted. However, during the calamity that lead to the mass exodus of humanity to the digital world, these droids were repurposed to store and transport cloned consciences of humans. This particular model was discovered by Styx outside the city on the frozen surface of the planet and seems to contain the consciousness of a young child. Because the droid is unable to communicate in any complex way with Styx, due to both age and incompatibility of technology, not even Styx is aware of the backstory of this particular little droid. Despite this, Styx has decided to guide Kid to the central server to upload its consciousness to the collective of humanity. Of course, Kid does not seem to understand any of this and is simply following Styx, much like an actual child might follow an adult’s instructions without much question. Kid occasionally displays its innocence and behavior indicative of its mental age, such as roaming off on its own and inquisitively investigating anything new.
