Since the primary component of our product involves shredding up a bunch of PLA filament, we've henceforth decided to refer to ourselves as The Filabusters. Who doesn't love a great pun?
Our product is coming together quite well. We have had several - and we mean several - issues that we've run into regarding filament extrusion, and stepper motor overheating, but this was (for the most part) expected, and we hope to have a prototype that's operational in some capacity early June!
Absolutely! You'll have to develop a problem, describe an original, well-researched potential solution, and submit it to the Lemelson-MIT InvenTeam's application page when it opens each Fall. Keep an eye on their website for updates and deadlines. Talk with a teacher for more information on how to start a team at your school and good luck!
