Beginnings
"The Devil and Miss Katz" has been in development since early 2023, with a few re-writes and story revisions along the way. The tone of the film has evolved from a traditional horror film to a satirical dark comedy. Look below to see some of the inspirations!

Table Read
In spring 2025, Acting Studio Chicago hosted a table read of the complete script with a full cast (pictured below).
A cast of talented actors participated in a complete reading of the script.

Crew
Professional cinematographer Melissa Pratt provided expertise in the camera department and helped gather some of Chicago's best to join the crew. Experimental filmmaker and art educator Lola Barbieri helped shape the places and spaces seen on camera. To work alongside the pros, we also invited a handful of aspiring teen filmmakers on set to gain experience and hopefully start their careers!
Production
In July 2026, filming began for principal photography, and will continue through August. All production will take place on location in Chicago!
