Preschool dance classes are fun, engaging, kid-friendly classes that focus on creative movement and learning how to work together in a group. Young dancers will be introduced to creative movement and the basics of ballet and tap in a fun and supportive environment.
~ages: 5-7
Young dancers will learn the basic ballet steps while learning how to follow direction and imitate movements. Engaging music is used to get these little ones inspired to dance, develop fine and gross motor skills, and learn how to work as a team. Classes will include: warm-up, “across the floor” (learning new movements), preparation for the recital piece, and if time allows playing a short, fun movement game to end the class.

This intermediate class continues to build on techniques learned in Ballet 1. Dancers will spend more time on ballet technique, learn the full barre and the basics of center work.
~ages: 9+
Dancers in this class will continue adding on to barre exercise and will learn more complex center combinations.
~ages: 11+ (must have previous ballet training)
Dancers in this class will continue adding on to barre exercise and will learn more complex center combinations. Dancers must be enrolled in the Pointe class while taking Ballet 4 and 5.
~ages: 14+ (must have previous ballet training)
Dancers in this class will continue adding on to barre exercise and will learn more complex center combinations. Dancers must be enrolled in the Pointe class while taking Ballet 4 and 5.
~ages: 11+ (must have previous ballet training and teacher approval)
Pointe class focused on building the strength, flexibility, and endurance needed to dance en pointe.
~ ages 5-8
This energetic and exciting class is designed to provide young dancers an introduction into the fundamentals of tap dance, while learning technical steps. Early exposure to the rhythms and unique mind-to-foot connection associated with tap dance will allow students to progress and excel at the art as they move through life. Classes will include: warm-up/center work, “across the floor” (learning new movements), preparation for the recital piece, and if time allows playing a short, fun movement game that teaches rhythm.
~ages: 8-11
In this class, dancers will continue to improve coordination, rhythm and musicality. They will continue to focus on learning the basics of tap, and will start putting steps together to form more complex combinations.
~ages: 12+
Students will be focusing on more advanced tap work during this class. They will continue to build tap vocabulary, learn more difficult combinations and continue to improve rhythm and coordination.
~ages 5-8
Jazz 1 is an introductory class with Jazz basics to fun and kid-friendly music. Dancers will learn the beginning steps of Jazz and work on picking up choreography sequences that fuse together style and technique. The goal of this class is building the dancers’ confidence while working on their musicality skills. Classes will include: warm-up/center work, “across the floor” (learning new movements), preparation for the recital piece, and if time allows playing a short, fun movement game that teaches team building.
~ages 8-10
Jazz 2 is an intermediate class that reviews all basic terms and techniques as well as new and more advanced movements. Dancers will build their style and confidence with upbeat music. Dancers will review basic steps and learn choreography with transition steps. Classes will include: warm-up (isolations and stretches), “across the floor” (technique steps/combinations, leaps and turns), center, group choreography, focus on technical skills and abilities.
~ages 11 - 18
Jazz 3 is an advanced class that works on perfecting all basic technique while learning advanced combinations and tricks. Dancers will work on their alignment, strength, flexibility, and mobility to improve their execution of leaps, turns and jumps. Dancers will be exposed to various styles of movement such as jazz, HipHop, lyrial, etc. With such variety, students will become well rounded dancers. Classes will include: Classes will include: warm-up (isolations and stretches), “across the floor” (technique steps/combinations, leaps, turns, and jumps), center (fouette and turns in second), group choreography, and improving all technical skills and abilities.
~ages: 5-11
In this class we will explore the basics of movement and contemporary dance principles. We will work on exercises in the center, across the floor movement, and building strength and flexibility. Students are also encouraged to explore creativity and storytelling.
~ages 12+
This class builds on the basics of contemporary dance, moving into a more advanced level. This class is focused on center work that connects mind and body, while building strength and flexibility and working on more challenging aspects such as balance, core strength, and more. We also do across the floor movement to increase mobility and ease into choreography.
~ages 3-7
Dancers involved in Company classes will have the opportunity to dance in The Delaware Valley Dance Company’s annual production of The Nutcracker (performed in November) and in various famous ballets in our annual spring ballet production. Past spring ballet productions have included Swan Lake, The Sleeping Beauty, La Bayadere, and Coppelia.
~ages 8+ (must have previous dance experience and take all ballet classes offered at their level, including pointe)
This class is for the serious and dedicated ballet student and culminates in performances of The Nutcracker in the late fall and a full-length production of a classical ballet in the spring.
