Why are the yearbooks so expensive?
We publish our books through Varsity, who sets the prices for us. This is a large production and our books are made with quality materials.
Most of our profits come from ad sales and commission from our photography company. These profits go towards our program, so our staff can attend camp, the cover design field trip, and more!
Why do we have to take portraits with Kenneth Brown?
Kenneth Brown Photo is the company Sandia works with to take all portraits for the yearbook. They are a reliable company that works with most APS high schools. Having one company provide all portraits ensures that no one is accidentally left out of the yearbook, and we have quality, professional photos of all seniors.
Seniors must take their portrait with Kenneth Brown, the summer before their senior year, in order to be represented in the portraits section of the yearbook.
Kenneth Brown offers free sessions at the beginning of June. Booking starts on May 14th, and it is important to sign up right away, as sessions fill up quickly. There are also free sessions and sessions starting at $30, so there are options for everyone.

Why should I join yearbook?
Yearbook is a fun class where you get to learn, demonstrate, and expand on your knowledge of photography, graphic design, writing, and art. Joining the yearbook staff also gives you more agency to make the yearbook look the way you want it to.
According to yearbook students:
"Personally, my favorite part of the yearbook was the photo-taking. After taking yearbook, I developed an eye for photography and photo composition. Action shots at sports games were personally what I excelled at, and being able to capture the emotions of an entire student section after winning a game in a single frame was the best feeling. "
"It's a nice community, you make a lot of new friends, and you learn a lot of new stuff."
"You get to make amazing memories and meet amazing people, and have fun!"
