Heading Definition relative to Detector Orientation

How Heading Will Be Defined

For the purposes of all experiments stored in this archive, heading is defined as such:

  • A heading of due North is when the front of the detector is facing South and the rear of the detector is facing North. As such, the scintillator paddles (not pictured) would be on the eastern side of the detector.
  • If the detector is flipped upside-down, the same rule applies: a heading of due North is where the frontal face of the detector faces south and the rear faces North (while the top of the detector is now on the ground).
  • Note: This heading definition is not universal; it is only how heading will be defined for all experiments in this archive.
