Integrating multi-media based assignments into secondary pedagogy and curriculum can have a positive effect on student learning outcomes by Diversifying the way students learn with the tools they use every day. This session will examine the shift in education since COVID-19 and how educators can adopt these methodologies into their classroom and even grow small multi-media programs similar to existing CTE style frameworks.

Mr. Thompson is the Creative Video Director at West Liberty University. He holds a Master of Fine Arts in Film from Vermont College of Fine Arts, a Masters of Art in Education Technology from West Liberty University, and a Bachelor of Science in Digital Media Design from West Liberty University.
Thursday, March 24, 2022 | 5:00 p.m. - 5:50 p.m. | Intended Audience: 5th-12th Grade Teachers Gimkit is a Kahoot alternative created by Josh Feinsilber. He designed this program while still in high school after talking to his teachers about what they liked and didn’t like about Kahoot. It plays like a Kahoot game, but students earn money for answering questions correctly, lots of it if they are good at it. Gimkit also gives kids a variety of game modes to choose from that look and feel similar to Kahoot. Learn more about this program and what it can do for you and your students!

Zak Klemm is a 7th Grade Science Teacher and Coach at Sherrard Middle School in Marshall County, WV. He is also a graduate student at West Liberty University pursuing a degree in Innovative Instruction. He previously spent six years in Ohio County Schools as a coach, teacher and academic coach.

Union Local High School recently provided an executive leadership coaching program to a small group of teachers as part of a study to determine if consistent coaching could positively impact educators. Mr. Shutler will share the results of the study and Mr. Crook will discuss his experience as the leadership coach for the educators.
Mr. Shutler is the principal of Union Local High School in the Union Local School District in Belmont County, Ohio. He previously served as an administrator at the elementary, middle, and high school levels and as a district superintendent. Mr. Shutler is currently finishing his doctorate in educational leadership at the University of Findlay.
Jamal Crook started his career as a ninth-grade biology teacher and assistant football coach. He then transitioned to leading an AVID program before navigating his way to Administration. Through these experiences, Jamal shaped his fundamental belief that education can radically transform the lives of students. He refers to this is as Transformation Through Education. Jamal Crook is currently serving as an Assistant Principal at Hill Middle School in Tampa, FL, where one thousand students call him Mr. Crook. Jamal Crook strives to champion equity for all and creates systems in which the whole child's needs are met. He is also co-host of the educational podcast, Crucial Conversations with Don Wettrick.

Ms. Butler specializes in the art of noticing and holistic learning design. Her most recent books include How to Notice: Expand Your Experience of Everyday Life and IN A BUTTON, a picture book with illustrator Nicholas Hohman. Butler merges her academic background in curriculum, poetics, and pedagogy with her daily practices of noticing and appreciation to inform her work and expressions. She is guided by questions of slowness, silence, not knowing, boredom, intrinsic curiosity, play, freedom, trust, and love.
This presentation will identify and illustrate potential "work-space" posture and positional issues that can lead to some of the more common overuse injuries seen in the workplace. It will discuss corrective and modification techniques, educate on common injuries seen in health care, and demonstrate a brief series of exercises people can do while at work.
Dr. Hanna is a local physical therapist and athletic trainer actively practicing both in the Wheeling area. In addition, he is a full-time graduate professor and the Program Director of the Athletic Training Major at West Liberty University.
Canva is a wildly popular online publishing tool that provides templates and tutorials to help anyone transform ideas into attractive designs. In this session, we will view a student-designed infographic that was created for a class assignment. The presenter will also lead the session participants through a live build of a project using the tool.
Ms. Mallak is the Founder + Creative Director of PUBLIC STUD/O, a design firm that provides clients with communications, connections and content strategies. She engages a diverse set of collaborators including teachers, architects, designers, makers, inventors, and video game developers.
When educators integrate the arts into their curriculum, we teach the whole child and embrace the fact that all children are different. During this session, we will be discussing why we should integrate the arts, various definitions of creativity, some ideas of what arts integration looks like, and finally, evaluating alternative summative assessments that integrate the arts.

Research has shown that the most effective way for ESE students to find success is in an inclusive classroom. We will be digging into what an inclusive classroom is, what the classroom may look like, various strategies on how to manage and run an inclusive classroom.

Differentiating can be a daunting and maybe even an overwhelming task for teachers. In this session, we will dive into multiple effective differentiating strategies for all learners and all ages. We will recognize that differentiating is something that can be simply done but is such a powerful and effective tool.

Minecraft Education Edition can be used as so much more than a game our students can play. In this session, learn how you can use pre-made Minecraft lessons in almost every content area to engage your students in a fun and meaningful way. Also learn how Minecraft has pre-made lessons for subjects like Digital Citizenship and Computer Coding for even the least experienced to introduce in their classes.
Mrs. Klemm is a computer science teacher at Sherrard Middle School in Marshall County, West Virginia. She also has experience across almost every grade level working with various STEM areas but found her passion in teaching computer coding. She now teaches several computer courses including Digital Citizenship, two PLTW courses (Computer Science for Innovators and Makers and App Creators), and a Coding in Minecraft course.
