Were created using the "Forges", alters used for creating. There are only three known Forges left in existence. One in the south in Shar; one in the Citadel of Felbarr; and one in Knashthra of the Feywild, hidden within the roots of the Great Tree/Blessings Tree.
Act as barriers between creation and where the Outer Gods were banished to.
If the Wards are weakened or destroyed, creation is vulnerable to the Outer Gods' attacks and influence.
As of 6/10/22, multiple scrolls and tomes in the Druidhome's library have differing opinions on the purpose of the Wards. Some say:
The Wards are meant to keep the Outer Gods from entering reality where they can destroy Creation.
The Wards are meant to keep the Outer Gods in something.
It's uncertain as to which is the truth and which is a lie/misunderstanding of the Wards' purposes.
When she read the words beneath the mural of the gods in Castle ____, Enilasor mentioned that she saw something about the Wards but after writing it down, she promptly forgot the information that she wasn't allowed to know. Tihn destroyed what was written and the visions she'd witnessed were lost.
She said something about:
"Redeemer"
"Rassilhon"
"Wards. Wards. It was elf, dwarf--" and then she was interrupted by Tihn, Orestes, and Arix with Tihn sounding the most desperate.
"Who all was involved in the Wards again? My brain isn't 100% here yet. I'm pretty sure it's scattered across eternity in seven different directions. Elves, dwarves, humans...who else helped?"
According to the Tree, one other might be sentient and able to talk.
Stated he thought it might only be the dagger, however, in the murals they're finding in the caverns beneath the dwarven Citadel, the Chalice is depicted as having a face within its flames. Arix and Enilasor heard a voice telling them to come find them after everything went dark after killing the first Sister. Voice provided Arix with a flame to give Morgana.
A discussion amongst the party in the same caverns shortly before they found the first Sister centered on Orestes trying to get clarification on whether or not the Tree was sure that it was only the dagger that could speak.
The locations based on the map are the following:
The Reaching Woods (Elder Tree)
Citadel Felbarr (The Flame-Wreathed Chalice)
Somewhere near the Great Glacier region (The Crystaline Dagger, given the description of the Hecatoncheir and Wistray's explanation of where the first human Eldritch Knight disappeared to)
The Thaymount in Thay
Somewhere along the eastern coast of the Sea of Fallen Stars, possibly between the Dragonclaw Mountains/Cape Dragonfang and Aglarond/Yurwood. Near the island of Ilighon off the coast of Turmish
Several races participated in the creation of the Wards
Dwarves created The Flame-Wreathed Chalice
Elves created the Elder Tree
The Chalice hinted that Morgana might be descended from creators of both the Tree and the Chalice
Dragonborns made the Fireheart
Gith created the Crystalline Dagger
Tritons made the Vial
