History
Artemis was born and raised in Azalea Village, named after her mother's favorite flower. Her mother, Hedwig Mazikeen, was the chieftain of their village and commander of their forces. Her father, Ernie Mazikeen was the mayor.
Do to jealousy of her mother's and father's positions as officials in the village, Artemis grew up with few friends. However, in her father's free time, he carved her wooden toys for her games of pretend, the owlet enjoying the game of mimicking her mother as a commander.
At the age of seventeen, an ambush from mysterious, black, hooded figures ended with her mother's death; only a few of the village's forces survived the attack and could relay what they saw to the citizens of Azalea. There was a strange feature each figure shared; they had symbols on their forehead, almost as if the symbol was a terrible curse. Leaderless with dwindled numbers, the soldiers allied with warriors outside of their village, breaking a long-time law that forbade any interacted with others. The soldiers and villagers felt like they had little choice but to reach out for help, knowing they would be vulnerable without aid.
When all the villagers and soldiers, including Ernie and Artemis, went to the Brotherhood of Dragonthorne for help, one of them, a dragonborn called Medgar Mithtak, agreed with them. They needed more people to protect their village. This became a turning point for Artemis. During her years of training with Medgar, the pair formed an unbreakable bond, one that led to an engagement.
Artemis spent five years training to become a soldier, and then returned to her village to see what's become of it. The sight that greeted her was horrific. The village had been raised to the ground. Homes were destroyed and her people's charred remains strewn across the village. One tiny grain of hope was that her father was missing. Her hope was that he escaped with a few others at best, and at worst, that he was captured. She set out on a mission to find him by any means necessary, and find the leader of the cult that she believes is behind the slaughter.
She's since learned that her father is not dead, but that he's in another, unknown plane.
