Make desired color

Before reading this page it is recommended to read the Help of the App The Color (F1).

Some things we need to know:

Here are used terms.

Each cell has its own menu (right click).

Shift + left click on cell => show value of color of this cell. According to the default format.

Left click on cell => Put value of color of this cell in Clipboard. According to the default format.

Left click on objective color => show this Form "Colors":

Right click on objective color => show menu of objective color:

In this Form:

Click on color from left column => Form Colores close and objective color set by choosed color.

Click on button Ok => Form Colores close and objective color set by color of TButtonColor (above the button Ok). (Here the use of TButtonColor is good because will change objective color.)

Press key ESC => Form Colores close and objective color without change.

Close form => Form Colores close and objective color without change.

So by using of right click on objective color we can change objective color. It is important.

From now on we can begin to explain how to prepare the desired color.

Desired color is some color, which we have in mind. This is not a well determined color. It really is a set of colors close to each other.

Our task now is to use App The Color to prepare a color (cell with color) similar to what we have in mind.

Case 1

We assume that now is loaded palette with name "DEFAULT 25" (really can be any palette) and that in the mind we have this color named "example1":

Color "example1"

The first stage:

In loaded palette we look for a cell with the closest color to example1.

It seems that a cell with the closest color to example1 is the cell with check mark.

The first stage is finished.

The second stage:

We set objective color as color of marked cell. For this we right click on the marked cell and choose the menu item "Set as objective".

Here is Result. (Of course you will not have Check mark). Note, that the objective color was changed.

The second stage is finished.

The third stage:

Now we are going to move the pointer to the right (o a times to left) until some cell will appear with the color very close to the color of "example1". This stage is similar to first stage. A times the third stage becomes first stage.

When value of pointer is 64 (o near) the cell we need appears. This cell is marked.

Also when value of pointer is 71 (o near) two more cells appear. They are marked.

We will name any of palettes with needed cell /cells as "Final palette" and any of needed cell as "Final cell".

Please remember this. Soon we will need this point.

The third stage is finished.

So we have three cells with colors sufficiently similar to the color "example1".

The task of obtaining the color, which we had in our mind is accomplished!

Now we can left click on one of these three cells and then make CTRL + V in another application.

Case 1 is finished.

Conclusions:

In this case we had only three stages. This was quite easy. After becoming familiar with this method, this task is accomplished for only about 5 seconds! Not bad.

However, in some cases Should we do more. This is the following case.

Case 2

We assume that now is loaded palette with name "DEFAULT 25" (really can be any palette) and that in the mind we have this color named "example2":

It is color example2.

In this case the color is quite dark. That is why our attempts to repeat the previous three stages can fail. But we can do a trick.

First in our mind we will try to make this color more clear. For example like this:

Now three previous stages can be implemented for this light color to obtain a palette like "Final palette".

Finally we are going to obtain at least one corresponding cell, which corresponds to this lightened color.

This cell will be in the "Final palette" palette.

Because this cell does not correspond to the color "example2", we do not need it.

To obtain the cell, which corresponds to the color "example2" we must do the following:

It is necessary to save the palette "Final palette" as well as this one, using the palette menu item "Save this palette as ...". New name can be "Final palette" or something similar.

After this the pointer will have a value 0.

Now we right click on objective color and choose item "Set black color".

For finish we have only one step:

Move the pointer to the right and observe changing of color of only "Final cell". In some moment color of the "Final cell" will match example2.

The Case 2 is finished.

Conclusions:

If color ejemplo1 is not too dark and is not too clear then we apply "three stage" technique. More than 95 percent of cases are like that.

If color ejemplo1 is too dark we apply the trick of Case 2.

If color ejemplo1 is too clear we apply the trick of Case 2, but first in our mind we will try to make this color more dark. And at the end instead right click on objective color and choose item "Set black color" it is necessary to choose item "Set white color".

The "three stage" technique is working usually. However, if in the stage three of this technique cannot be found necessary cell, the cell with the closest color must be chosen, set objective color to the color of this cell and again move Pointer to the left or to the right, looking for the "Final cell".

The operation of the App "The Color" is not common. For starters maybe you will waste time to get acquainted. However, it will soon work quickly when it is necessary to obtain a color.
