In the Dhidhessaa ecological corridor of Killoo Kombolcha, Arjo Oromia, children grow up inside a landscape where predator–prey logic, maternal caution, and ecological memory shape everyday behaviour. Stories told to children are not merely entertainment; they are micro‑economic simulations, risk‑management lessons, and indigenous strategy games encoded in narrative form.
One of the most widely shared narratives in this corridor is the short tale of Ilmoo Qeerransaa fi Ilmoo Re’ee (The Tiger Child and the Goat Child). It teaches children how to interpret risk, trust, territory, and maternal guidance within a landscape where ecological relationships are never neutral.
This essay situates the story within cultural ecology, experimental microeconomics, and indigenous game theory, and provides the original Afaan Oromo text as a cultural appendix.

The next morning, the tiger child invites the goat child to play again, but the goat child refuses, citing her mother’s warning. The two children fall silent and part ways.
The story ends with three lessons: self‑protection, truthfulness, and respecting parental guidance.
