The Big Game

I was in the middle of my usual Saturday. On the couch, just watching cartoons. On Saturdays I’d wait for my dad to take over the TV. Because, you know, college football.
My dad started to block the TV and I thought, “Here it comes.” Instead, he said, “Bella, why do you not have on any University of Louisville gear?”
I was confused because the Cards had a game, but not until tonight. Suddenly, he held up two tickets and said, “We're going to the game.”
I was exhilarated. When my dad and I spend time together, just me and him, it was special. It was an away game, and we didn’t go to many. When I was younger, like my sisters, I couldn't sit through games. I began to feel like I was older, like I was growing up. I ran as fast as I could up to my room, threw my DeVante Parker jersey on, and was ready to go. We drove to my grandma's house, picked her up, and headed for the road. We needed to go early because it was at Marshall University in West Virginia.
It was a long drive but it was worth it.
On the way we started to get ravenous, so we stopped at this cool place called Hillbilly Hotdogs. It was unique because it was a old school bus that was converted into a restaurant. If you are wondering what it looks like, it's a very Appalachian restaurant. There is a giant hotdog in front, and from the outside it looks like an antique shop with cool items like old license plates and wind chimes. I got the chilly dog, and it was delectable. It was a nice pitstop on our long drive.
The hotdogs were delicious!
Eventually we arrived at Marshall in Hungtington, West Virginia, just over the Kentucky border. Believe it or not, because we were the visiting team, we had to park far away. All of the students were booing us because we were the opposing team - but I was with my dad, and that gave me a sense of safety.
We finally made it to the stadium, then to the seats, but only after my dad ran around the stadium because we could not find where we were supposed to sit. The fact that it was jam packed did not help. Long story short, we found our section, and our seats. Soon after that, the Cardinals ran out, and the crowd went wild. There were more Louisville fans there than Marshall fans.
The game wasn't even close, and that's not even what I remember the most about this day. Let's just say my Louisville Cardinals won... by a lot.
l was thrilled at the end of the game. The stadium cleared quick and I wish I could say the same about traffic. Luckily, we were not the home team so the rest of the ride home was clear. Soon we arrived back in Eminence, Kentucky. In the end we had a great time.
I love spending time with my dad. It is good to be apart of a family, but some of my favorite times are when it is just him and I.
