I changed the HDMI cable. No difference. Still, no picture displayed / or occasionally a 480p signal showed when docked. The output is sporadic and no obvious changes are made to get the 480p output working.
Changing the video settings on the Switch did nothing to change the picture quality. There were the standard options under TV Output Settings (Automatic, 1080p, 720p, 480p). Changing these in addition to RGB setting made no difference to picture output when docked in the ACNH dock. The picture still defaulted to 480p on the TV, though other options could be selected in handheld mode.
