The following people thank you!
Rick Neifeld, Neifeld IP Law, PLLC https://www.neifeld.com/ Carl, my friend, you are an inspiration in many ways. You have facilitated a wonderful community for exchange of ideas. That has been and remains invaluable. Thank you!
Suzannah K. Sundby, Canady + Lortz LLP Carl, my dear friend, I can't thank you enough for what you do. Especially, for what you did earlier this year. Without you and what you do, I would not have the distractions I need to focus on work and the resources that make me a better practitioner. Thank you for everything you do.
David Boundy, Cambridge Technology Law LLC Carl -- your generosity in managing the technology, in sharing your insights, and in supporting those of us that have something new to learn, is part of what makes this a great profession. I am deeply grateful to your contributions to all of us as a group and to me individually.
Ronni Jillions Carl, thank you for all you do for the IP community, and in particular, for the patent and trademark attorneys that rely on your blogs and your listservs. I am amazed at how much time you can put into these activities while still maintaining a thriving practice. Do you ever sleep? :) Anyway, thank you again for all that you do. You are truly an inspiration. I for one, appreciate it! Best regards, Ronni
John Pietrangelo, Tech Valley Patent, LLC Carl, As a sole practitioner I have found both your listservs and your "Ant-like Persistence" Blog extremely helpful. Your attention to the issues that arise in the day-to-day tasks of obtaining patent protection for my clients - and how to address them - has been nothing short of incredible. Please accept this heartfelt "Thank you" for sharing your insights and experiences.
Daniel Feigelson, Fourth Dimension Intellectual Property Law Carl, your persistence over periods of years in pointing out - in detail - areas where the USPTO needs to improve, and in organizing other practitioners to join the effort, is greatly appreciated.
James Creedon, Creedon PLLC www.creedonpllc.com Thank you for the amazing work you do in developing the trademark law community!
Jodi Lang, IP Paralegal, www.remotedocket.com Your help in getting the PTO to do the right thing is GREATLY appreciated!
Bruce Young, Young's Patent Services Thanks for all of your service to the Patent Prosecution profession.
Gwen Corcoran, Groover & Associates PLLC
Yablon Jay R. Great work bringing together a community of IP practitioners toward mutual benefit!
Ira Matsil, Slater Matsil, LLP, slatermatsil.com Thanks for all you do.
Charles Lewis Gholz, Oblon McClelland Carl is pugnacious, but in a good way. When I read his posts, my comment is often Bravo!
Richard A. Schafer, Schafer IP Law
Nancy Dwyer, Chapman Lackenbach Siegel LLP Carl has been a tireless and generous supporter of the IP community for many years, including providing and managing free list-servs to specialty groups and overseeing the invaluable Feathers! US trademark monitoring program. He has a blog, he provides advice, and he never seems to sleep! There aren't enough laudatory adjectives in the dictionary to praise Carl sufficiently for all he has done for his sisters and brothers in intellectual property law. Thanks, Carl; I'm a more effective trademark attorney in part because of your many contributions to our profession.
Sue Crane, Wyndham Hotels & Resorts, Inc. Carl, your unwavering commitment to open communication, data sharing and camaraderie among the IP community has left an indelible imprint upon our profession. I am honored to call you a colleague.
Scott Keller, Warner Norcross + Judd LLP, wnj.com Carl, the INTA Listserv had become indispensable to me. Then they moved it from an email listserv to online and it was all about to fall apart. But you were the knight in shining armor by volunteering for the thankless task of becoming the host of the listserv so we could all carry on. The entire list community is forever grateful. We can never repay you for the invaluable resource you have helped provide, but at least we can say "Thanks". You will live on in annuls of trademark lore. Thank you!
Timothy G. Ackermann, Ackermann Law Firm, https://ackermannlaw.com/ Carl has provided an example of true leadership in our community, including standing up to protect the interests of applicants, and helping teach tricks of the trade to better help our clients.
Diana Palchik, Really appreciate all the work you put into this community, Carl. It is such a useful resource!
Manny Vacchiano, Double Helix Law, http://doublehelixlaw.com Thanks for being so generous in sharing your expertise especially in procedural patent prosecution issues, and most especially related to PCT applications. And thanks for coordinating the sharing of patent prosecution information between patent attorneys.
Doreen Trujillo, Saul Ewing Arnstein & Lehr LLP I cannot possibly quantify the value of participating in the listservs you maintain. It is more informative than any CLE course could be, not only because of the collective knowledge, but also because of the thorough, well thought-out answers you routinely provide to questions. The prompt responses by the WIPO representatives is just icing on the cake. Thank you for so generously sharing your time and wisdom.
Benjamin Keim, https://www.linkedin.com/in/benjaminkeim/ Thank you so much for your work fostering intelligent and collegial discussions of intellectual property issues.
Kristen Guckenberger Adams, Non-Attorney Colleague I met Carl when he taught a beginners class I took through PRG for people starting out in IP (non-attorneys). What I expected to be a another mundane experience was anything BUT!! Carl is so passionate about his work and so knowledgeable - his ability to teach and make people feel like they are smart is such a gift - especially when you are new to the IP world and everything you learned in the legal field up to that point is totally out the window. Carl knew that, he had a great way of making me feel like I was not in the dark as much as I thought I was, along with the incredible way he had of conveying confusing concepts to us beginners. Carl was so well liked that, in fact, several of us from the class got together with him afterwards for a nice meal and good conversation. If you ever have a chance to sit down and talk to Carl about himself and his life's work you should! He is truly amazing, sincere, and brilliant. :) My chance meeting with Carl eventually led me to his blog and continued communication with him over the years on the ListServ and professionally to which I am always grateful. The resources he provides are truly invaluable to someone like me who provides support to attorneys. Thanks for all your continued service to the industry, Carl!
Ed Welch, IP&L Solutions Thank you for all you do for the IP Practitioner Community. With nearly 40 years of practice, I've received more practical advice from your listservs and Patently-O than from all the seminars I have attended. A new best practices all practitioners should take advantage of would be to join the listservs and sign up for your blog.
Curtis Prescott Thank you Carl Oppedahl for the great service you from webinars to live events and the listservs provide to the patent community. You are a national treasure to patent prosecutors (and litigators).
Fred Wilf, Wilftek LLC https://wilftek.com/
Mary Alice LaMorte, LaMorte & Associates, P.C. The information you provide is invaluable! I am so appreciative of the listserves you host and the blogs you post. I read every single word. I am so very grateful for your generosity of spirit in sharing your tremendous wealth of knowledge!
C. Dale Quisenberry , Quisenberry Law PLLC, www.quisenberrylaw.com Thank you Carl for all you have done to pass on the torch of knowledge!!
Narek Zohrabyan, Phil IP Law Group Inc., 700 North Brand Blvd., Suite 220 Carl, you the main man!
Brad Scheer, Schwegman, Lundberg & Woessner Carl, thank you for being an absolutely exceptional speaker for our Advanced PCT Seminar over the past several years!
Judith Szepesi, HIPLegal LLP, http://hiplegal.com/ Thank you Carl for everything you do. Your mailing lists made my transition to a tiny IP boutique so much smoother. You created a community of colleagues willing to answer questions, share their wisdom, and work to make the IP world better.
Terrence M. Wyles Former student and employee of Carl, and long-time colleague of Carl, https://startupiplaw.com Many of my best professional practices and abilities are a direct result of Carl's strong influences and teachings.
Michael Brown, Multi-listserv member, www.mjbrownlaw.com Carl is an invaluable resource, of knowledge in so many aspects of US IP practice, of technology with the listservs, Feathers, how systems work, and of dedication to the IP community. I cannot imagine the state of my practice if I had never heard of Carl. If he were ever put in charge of the USPTO (we could only hope!), the IP community would be singing Louis Armstrong's classic "What a Wonderful World"!
Julie Eslick Carl - Cannot thank you enough for the wisdom I have gathered from you over the years in dealing with the USPTO and WIPO. You have a way of breaking things down so they are not so much in "legalease" that it can be understood. Here's to many more years of following your blogs and listserves! They are a very valuable resource. Cheers!
Leslye Davidson, Davidson, Davidson & Kappel, LLC It has been over 30 years since I first met Carl as a summer associate. He was a scholar, gentleman and natural teacher then and remains so to this day. With love. Leslye
JESSICA R FRIEDMAN, www.literarypropertylaw.com The listserv has been a lifeline and a lifesaver for me. Being a sole practitioner, I can't just bounce into the next office and ask someone whether they know something or how they do something. The people on this list have been so helpful and I have learned so much. (I hope I have contributed even a tiny fraction of what I've learned.) And it's all because Carl keeps it running and makes it work, while frequently contributing his own comprehensive, detailed, thoughtful and invaluable insights on so many issues. I am immensely grateful to him!
Diane L. Gardner, Mastermind IP Law P.C. I have never met someone who is so dedicated to improving a profession. I am lucky that Carl is so knowledgeable, and that we share that profession. I am confident that reading Carl's listserves over the years has made me a better practitioner. This is especially true because I am a solo practitioner and options for discourse with others in my profession are limited. Kudos to Carl for enabling those forums. Carl's in-depth understanding of the mundane word of the law, especially in areas such as PCT practice, is matched by his astute insight to the actual mechanics of our practice. Carl is always amongst the first to enroll as a beta-tester for everything from pilot programs, to revised forms and their effects, to new technology, and he willingly takes the time to share his findings and conclusions with anyone who is interested and wishes to be trendy, modern, and up-to-date. When Carl identifies something that is troubling, he proactively works to implement improvements that benefit everyone in our profession. The USPTO should give him a medal for his dedication in helping them remedy their errors. One would think that with all of the extra projects that Carl undertakes in addition to running a successful law firm, that he would be unable to do more. But in fact, Carl willingly participates as an artful speaker at professional association meetings, and serves as an instructor. And yet, he STILL has time to put out his aptly named Ant-like Persistence blog, addressing pressing issues and best-practices in our profession, as well as providing tips and tricks such as product comparisons, technology hacks, and proper use of terminology and vocabulary. It is a nerd's paradise of information, and I have read it religiously for many years. When Carl says something, I listen. In the IP profession, Carl was an influencer before being an influencer became a thing. Although I have never worked with Carl, I can say that he has had a profoundly positive impact on my practice. I am grateful for this opportunity to express my appreciation for all of the many ways in which he made that happen.
Now excuse me while I tackle a home improvement project using my Oppedahl Patent Law Firm multimeter.

You have created forums that have proven splendid opportunities for even the most learned experts to learn even more about the law and practice as it relates to patenting. Thanks for all you do to assist us all to practice our profession at ever-higher levels of professional excellence. Bob Armitage
Krista S. Jacobsen, Solo practitioner Carl's e-mail lists and blog are invaluable to me. I have learned so much from Carl and the other practitioners who participate in the discussions. There is no other resource that comes close to providing the quality of discussion, and it is all due to Carl creating a forum for sharing experiences. Thank you, Carl!
Chris Zhang, Silicon Patent
Quan-Ling Sim, World Intellectual Property Organization Dear Carl, it has been a true honor and privilege for me to have worked with you for so many years on patent and design matters. Your insights have always spurred us to continuously improve the delivery of our services. Your occasional "flames" serve as a beacon and reminder of how important it is to keep client needs front and center. We particularly cherish those moments when you take the time to highlight and praise the quality of our work. Quan.
Ann Bardini, WIPO, Geneva, https://pct.wipo.int/ePCT Carl was the very first person to file a PCT application using ePCT and his support for the system is much appreciated!
Marylou Lavoie, Thank you, Carl, for the List Serves and blog. I have appreciated being part of this for many years. Both the advice shared and the comaraderie. It is especially nice for those of us who are solos!
Pamela Chestek, Chestek Legal Carl, the trademark bar cannot thank you enough times or with enough enthusiasm to adequately convey how important you are to us and the practice as a whole. I so much admire your kindness, thoughtfulness, mentorship, and example. With a small practice, I think of you often and reflect on how I can exemplify the same values you do. Thank you for everything.
Brooke Schumm, Daneker, McIntire, Schumm, et al, Baltimore, MD I really appreciate Carl obviously putting in a lot of his own time developing technology we could emulate and being willing to be a test platform (guinea pig!?!) for outside technology and develop compatibility between our usual office programs and other agencies. The blogs are of course immensely useful and the interplay and opportunity for a sense of remote collegiality much appreciated. Brooke.
Stacey Friends, Morse, www.mbbp.com I am so thankful for the listserv. I don't recall how I first found out about the list but I find it invaluable. This is a true service to the entire field of trademark law- a treasure-trove of experience and knowledge. Competitors helping each other, the experienced helping the new trademark attorneys, sometimes helping to change policy, and also sometimes providing humor. Thank you, Carl, for having this great idea and your sponsorship of this community.
Karen L Kimble, AIPLA, LinkedIN, MI Bar, https://technologylawpllc.com Your sage advice and wit are greatly appreciated. It really helps a solo practitioner.
Katherine Koenig, Koenig IP Works, PLLC A sincere thank you for spearheading so many wonderful efforts to make our practice and our interactions with IP offices more efficient and effective. I don't know how you manage to get so much done in a mere 24 hours a day. Your listservs, and the networks they offer, have been invaluable to so many of us - thank you for all you do!
John M. Hammond, Patent Innovations LLC, www.patent-innovations.com I am continually amazed by the contributions that Carl makes to the patent practitioner community, and the breadth of his knowledge of not only patent law, but science and technology. A very timely posting on his ALP blog once caused me to question the circumstances of a foreign filing that I was doing and saved me from huge problems. It is a must read for me every day.
Roger Browdy, Browdy and Neimark, PLLC, www.browdyneimark.com Carl, your listservs and commentary provide a great service to the bar, regardless of the amount of experience we may have. Thank you for all of your efforts.
Art MacCord, MacCord Mason PLLC Carl, your prodigious efforts to help your fellow bar members provide excellent service to their clients are remarkable. Thank you!
Guy V. Manning, Law Offices of Guy V. Manning, Fort Worth Can't thank you enough, Carl, for creating and maintaining your listserv and blog and for giving of yourself in countless seminars and webinars. And all with your characteristic intelligence, wit and dry humor. Love the ˜keeper words" of late. But mostly, you've brought this worldwide IP community together for our mutual improvement, even if in some cases all we can do is vent and know someone is listening who can appreciate it. Including the ones we may be venting about, who, I dare say, likely get a lot more out of lurking and hearing us than they'll ever admit. Good on you, Mate. Thanks forever.
Kenneth Kunkle, www.kunklelaw.com The list-serve has been a reassuring companion over the years. While not an active member, knowing that the resource and the community that it represents is there has been a comfort to me as I have built my practice. Thank you for your contribution to my practice and hundreds of others'.
Laura Winston, Offit Kurman, P.A., https://twitter.com/laurawinston Carl goes above and beyond for the trademark bar and our clients, and expects nothing in return except that we be respectful and courteous to each other. Thank you Carl!
Matthew D. Asbell, Offit Kurman, P.A. (previously Ladas & Parry LLP), https://www.offitkurman.com/attorney/matthew-d-asbell/ Carl, I greatly appreciate your generosity and inclusiveness of the IP bar, and I am proud to have any association with you! You've filled the gap left when IP Today ceased publication with your Toteboards. You've mobilized group responses to the USPTO. And you've made sure we are all well informed. Thank you for all you have done for this practice. You are a true leader!
John Economou, Thanks!!
Jeffrey E. Semprebon, Patent Agent Thank you for years of valuable advice!
Mia Unson I've been a subscriber to Carl's listservs almost as long as I've been a patent practitioner and they've been a constant source of information, cautionary tales, and even entertainment. When I meet a practitioner who hasn't joined these listservs or subscribed to his blog, I always encourage that person to do so. I wouldn't even know where to begin to thank Carl for these resources and for all the other work he has done on behalf of the IP law community, but...THANK YOU, Carl!!!
Jeffrey Lee Wendt, The Wendt Firm PC, https://www.linkedin.com/in/jeffreywendt/ Carl - you and your listservs have been of inestimable value to my practice, thanks for your years of active service to the IP profession!

Michael Bosworth, Klintworth and Rozenblat IP LLP, www.kandrip.com Carl, we greatly, greatly appreciate your shepherding all of us through the subtleties of IP Law!
Daniel Kegan, KeganLaw (Chicago), www.keganlaw.com A most helpful catalyst to and for the intellectual property community, and sometimes maker of good trouble.
David Hricik, Thank you for organizing, moderating, and most of all giving guidance to patent practitioners for free, and often with wit!
Sharon Rosen, Freelancer Thank you, Carl, for never tiring to answer questions and helping others, and for maintaining all the lists which have become an invaluable source of knowledge and guidance and assistance over the years.
Carole Barrett, Barrett IP Law Thank you for bringing us all together.
Ivan Rozek, Savantek Patent Services I'm a newbie on the oppedahl listserves. Being able to communicate with other practitioners and follow discourses, even when one isn't involved in a specific exchange, is an invaluable service especially for the solo practitioners. And thank you for personally helping me also! Your blogs are not only informative, but also entertaining. Just one question - how do you manage it all?
Richard Straussman, Weitzman Law Offices, LLC, http://www.weitzmanip.com Carl - It is impossible to quantify the value you have provided to us, your fellow practitioners, through your Listservs and blog and through which I have learned so much over the years, and avoided numerous headaches. Thanks SO much!!

Laureen Urquiaga, BYU Law Library I can't think of any resource, including law school, which has been more helpful to my understanding of copyright issues than the Oppedahl list. Thank-you.
Luis Figarella, Matrix Patent Agency, http://www.mxpatent.com Gracias Carl, your posts and lists, your willingness to give, your availability for all, the true marks of someone who makes ALL of us better through selfless actions. Un abrazo, Luis
Lisa London, Listserve fan Carl, your listserve has been a lifeline for this small firm attorney. I have found community and knowledge through this group. Thanks a million!!
Mary A Harris Carl, your list-serve is an amazing and valuable resource, especially to solo practitioners like me. I can't count the number of times that list members have helped me solve problems or answered questions. To have a forum that is purely for collegial interactions, and from which friendships grow as well, is priceless. The amount of time this must take for you to maintain and oversee is enormous, yet you continue to rise to the occasion and help us to bring our thoughts and concerns to the attention of the PTO. Please count me amongst your legion of fans!
Anuj Desai This is a great resource, although I am quite new to it. Thanks for your tremendous work in making it a success!

Lara Pearson "Carl Oppedahl, oh, Carl Oppedahl

Carl- Thanks so much for your great contribution to the IP community. Your lists have been a valuable resource for many years!
Matthew J Booth, Matthew J Booth PC, https://boothlaw.com Many thanks for all of the hard work.
Bill Finkelstein Carl, I've been with you since INTA walked away from its site and it's been great for all of us to learn, inform and be informed, and not least of all, to vent. And you have been our ventor-in-chief! In fact, you may to wish to consider this mark for personal services: the MENTOR-VENTOR. I hereby waive all my rights to it. Thanks for all your hard work on behalf of our community and for helping make it one.
Thilo C. Agthe, Wuersch & Gering LLP I want to add my thanks for everything you have done for the trademark community over the years, especially the hosting of the trademark ListServ, which has been a huge benefit to all of us!

Barry Gaiman Armis IP Law, SPF Technologies, https://www.spftechnologies.com Thanks Carl, not only do you provide all of these useful list severs and blog, you advocate for common sense at the USPTO. You also cheerfully reply to many questions I have sent to you over the years. Please invite me to your zoom retirement party (if that ever happens). I am also the proud owner of an Oppedahl Multimeter.
Jeffrey H. Ingerman, Haley Guiliano LLP Thanks, Carl, for pushing me to finally get involved after all these years. Jeff
Jane Oswecki Consultant Thank you for your forum for addressing issues and keeping all of us updated with changes at the PTO over the years.

Patricia Tocci Thank you, Carl, for all you do. Oppedahl-lists is such a great learning tool for Paralegals as well as attorneys!
John Ogilvie I always learn something useful from your postings. Thanks!
Debra Smith, CPA (GB), EPI (Europe), http://www.mayfin-ip.com/ Carl , I have followed your blog for many years (initially whilst managing the in-house Intellectual Property Department for a global US firm). It was one of your webinars that encouraged me to setup the Department to use ePCT and I still use it today even after I left and started my own tiny Intellectual Property company (working from home). Since setting up my own company, I joined your designs listserv and a couple of years ago I filed my first Hague Agreement design application after reading your posts and hearing about the experience of others. So this is my very big THANK YOU from across the ocean.
Shannon Vieau, Fox Rothschild LLP Carl has been many things to me over the years.... employer, mentor, colleague and friend. My appreciation and gratitude for him is infinite. He has played a key role in my professional and personal successes over the years. 15 years ago, I accepted a position working at Carl's firm as an administrative assistant. I had no idea the impact this one decision would have on my future. The countless hours he spent sharing his vast knowledge of IP enabled me to build a strong foundation and understanding of this sometimes complex world of IP. When I passed the patent bar exam a couple years ago, Carl was one of the first people I shared my news with. Through his blogs, listservs and webinars he still continues to have an influence on my understanding and knowledge of best practices, while helping me stay trendy, modern and up-to-date. :) Carl's endless dedication and continuous efforts to educate make him an invaluable resource for our IP community.
Lynn McMiller, Johnson, Marcou, Isaacs & Nix, LLC Thank you for all your guidance over the years Carl! Your blog and listservs have been my go-to for many years!
Manuel Fortin, The email lists and Carl's blog are an invaluable resource for my practice. Without them, I would probably have problems sleeping at night trying to resolve administrative issues or wondering if I somehow committed malpractice in some aspect of my work. For example, having transfer of priority claiming rights done properly for years got me to sleep well the day the EPO CRISPR decision regarding right to claim priority got out. Without Carl and the other mailing list participants, I would probably never have thought about this before the decision came out, and then gotten very worried with all the EPO filings I have done over the years.
Catherine (Cat) Goe, TM Paralegal/Administrator, presently in house at Duty Free Americas, Inc. Carl, I’ve been with you since you offered e-trademarks as an alternative to Trademark Topics. I’ve enjoyed watching this community grow under your remarkable stewardship. The practical value of the forum is incalculable, the spirit of good will a balm, the occasional burst of humor or whimsy welcome respite from life in the left brain. Bravo!!!
Sal Sidoti I echo the appreciation expressed by Rick and the others. I've known Carl since our work together on the PCT Issues Committee of AIPLA years ago. For seemingly no reason other than to help other practitioners "get it right" for their clients or to provide best practices, Carl has always been willing to provide a forum to discuss complex PCT and US practice issues. The PCT list serve and the blog are valuable resources to "kick the tires" with other practitioners on more complex practice issues. Much appreciation for your efforts. Your friend, Sal Sidoti
Dawn Rhoads Paralegal Thank you for your thoughtful, insightful blog and for maintaining the extremely informative and educational Oppedahl-Lists!
Matthew Sag, Loyola University Chicago School of Law, https://www.matthewsag.com Communities don't just happen, they are built by people like Carl. Thanks Carl!!!
Neil Ormos Thank you Carl for your work in providing the mailing lists and building a community around them, for your interesting CLE presentations, for your many excellent blog articles, and for helping to hold the PTO's feet to the fire on its PAIR, EFS-WEB, and now Patentcenter services. Thanks also for your great writing, which is entertaining and renders complex things in a simple-to-understand way.
