Thanh-Nghi Doan is an Associate Professor and Senior Lecturer with a Ph.D. in Information Technology at the Faculty of Information Technology, An Giang University, Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City. Since joining the university in 1999, he has held various roles, including Dean of the Faculty from 2017 to the present. Dr. Doan earned his Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Rennes 1, France, in 2013, where he was a Ph.D. candidate in the TEXMEX Research Team at IRISA. His research primarily focuses on machine learning, data mining, and high-performance computing, particularly in the field of computer vision with applications in agriculture. His notable contributions include developing 2D and 3D image analysis systems for agricultural use in the Mekong Delta, such as insect image classification systems and rice disease prediction. Especially he made a major contribution to 2D and 3D image understanding systems in agriculture in Mekong Delta. Throughout his career, Dr. Doan has led and contributed to numerous research projects and publications in these fields, advancing smart agriculture, biodiversity conservation, and digital transformation for small and medium-sized enterprises. His expertise also includes IoT, smart farm design, and mobile programming, with proficiency in languages like C/C++, Python, and Java. He has authored and co-authored several books on programming and information technology, contributing significantly to educational resources in Vietnam.
