Warm greetings! I am a Lecturer in the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science at Santa Clara University. Prior to that, I was an Associate Professor and Math Program Director in the Department of Mathematics and Science, Holy Names University. I received my Ph.D. from the National University of Ireland Galway, mentored by Prof. Niall Madden (NUI Galway) and Prof. Scott MacLachlan (formerly at Tufts University, now at the Memorial University of Newfoundland).

I have a wide range of research interests in Computational and Applied Mathematics including, but not limited to, Numerical Analysis, Numerical Linear Algebra, Scientific Computing, Biomath Modeling, and Math Education. Please also visit my research page for more details.

This workshop is dedicated to James Demmel for his leadership in modern high-accuracy and high-performance linear algebra solvers and for his promotion of numerical linear algebra to a broad audience through software, teaching, and collaboration.

Past PhD project (2011-2015): The goal of this project was to develop fast, robust, multigrid-based solvers for linear systems that occur when generating numerical solutions to singularly perturbed partial differential equations (SPPDEs). These problems occur in a wide variety of mathematical models, from fluid flow to computational finance. They are characterised by a small positive perturbation parameter multiplying the highest derivative, leading to the presence of boundary and/or interior layers (localised regions where the solution varies rapidly, and so has large derivatives). SPPDEs can be difficult to solve numerically, largely due to presence of the layers. The project was funded by the Irish Research Council Grant No. RS/2011/179.

Past MSc project (2009-2011): I worked as part of an interdisciplinary team spanning Informatics, Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, and Health Sciences and had particular responsibility for designing and implementing numerical methods for systems on nonlinear equations that model patient response to certain drugs in real-time, and predicted the impact on the patient of different drug regimes. The project was funded by Science Foundation Ireland (SFI) under their Research Frontiers Programme. For my research in details, please click here.
