The first TGSW2017_language conference collected as many as 34 presentations, which is an unexpected and surprising accident(!) when I planned to make a proposal to the TGSW executive committee last year. The main theme of this conference is “to cross the academic barriers & enhance collaboration and communication”, which is an essential factor to promote an interdisciplinary academic research. As was suggested at the symposium session, there are various types of barriers among and even within academic fields. This conference might be a small start, but I am quite confident now that the approach is highly promising in the near future. One of the biggest facts is that a great many of young researchers and undergraduate and graduate students participated in the conference as presenters in this first conference. I hope that this conference will provide an inspiration and motivation for their future research. I really appreciate their efforts and contributions to the conference.

I am now thinking about the next opportunity for TGSW2018 conference. I hope that you will be back again at this time next year.
