Profile
I am a Professor of Economics and East European Studies at Freie Universität Berlin and I hold degrees from the National and Capodistrian University of Athens (LL.B., LL.M.), Yale University (M.A.), Saint Petersburg State University (Ph.D.) and University of California, Berkeley (Ph.D.). My research fields include political economy, international relations, economic history and comparative economic systems. My research interests cover imperial legacies, international political economy in Russia and Eastern Europe as well as (forced) migration, culture and economic development. Furthermore, I maintain a strong interest in the connections between conflict, energy resources and climate change.
