Join me in recapping my Bangkok trip.
We had an inside look on the institution's many interesting rooms catered to different specialisations.
The first picture showed us before the tour of the institution and we were shocked at how advanced and new the place seemed. It was airconditioned almost everywhere! Moving on, checking out the culinary room, I was the only one who received a chocolate ganache dessert as I answered a question correctly and it tasted amazing. We came bearing gifts for the student leaders who helped us tour around the institution, sharing with us fun facts such as the instituition having massage zones to whine down.
We took part in many activities ranging from tie-dye making to weaving using banana leaves.
We made batik cloths to bring home as souveniours. We did it from scratch and it was eye-opening as it was way easier than expected. We made organic herbal oil from scratch, slowly incorporating all the different elements including menthol. This is the end product of my rice plantation. Unfortunately, we could not bring it on the flight home so we donated it to the venue. This sweet lady who was teaching us how to weave banana leaves into fish personally weaved one for me. She said it was special for me and I was so touched.
This was a mangrove we visited which focuses mainly on preserving their nature and tiny wildlife.
Visiting the Mangrove was enlightening, experiencing first hand how they preserve and protect some of their wildlife cycles and species of plants. In the first picture, they preserved bones of a whale. It was incredibly cool to see how big it was compared to everyone there. The second picture was at the entrance of the location with my two friends. We had to put on ponchos as it was a little wet that day. However that did not ruin the experience as we had a very insightful tour guide which is in the third picture. She shared her exeriences working here as compared to working in a mangrove on Singapore as she experienced both.
Each of the three activities shared has its own contribution to the capital of the Global Mindset. To begin, the visit to Panyapiwai Institute of Management made me realise how it enhances the cognitive complexity. As a visitor, we gained both practical and theoretical knowledge, being able to experience the institution first-hand. Learning about business and management, I learnt to think critically and solve problems better. Meeting the student leaders from different backgrounds and learning about the global practices helped me understand how industries run smoothly and this would in return help me in handling businesses in the future with a broadened perspective. The institute emphasises on hands-on learning and learning through internships. This holistic approach made me come to a realisation that it enhances individual competence but it also does prepare them to contribute to the global business landscape effectively. In conclusion I had a deeper appreciation for the workings of the industries. I think this ultimately enriches the intellectual capital crucial for thriving in a globalized economy.
Moving on, the Patom Organic, Suan Sampran contributes to the intercultural empathy. This was through the multiple activities we did such as herbal oil making and tie-dye making. I gained a first hand experience and understanding through immersing in the traditional thai crafts which brought out the values as well. When i engaged with the locals, I learnt their sustainable efforts through the activities. I believe this fostered a deeper appreciation and respect for their local practices and culture heritage as well. The experience made me see the genuine connections between the locals and crafts. Overall, it enhanced my intercultural empathy as it helped me appreciate the different cultural differences building a more inclusive global mindset. It helped me be able to move forward in the future being able to connect more effectively with people of different diverse backgrounds which would hopefully foster a more interconnected global community.
Visiting the Bangpu Nature Education Center enhances the quest for adventure aspect of global psychological capital. As I immersed myself in the environment and natural landscapes. I participated in mangrove exploration, and environmental conservation projects. The adventurous engagement fosters resilience, adaptability, and an openness to new experiences. As I saw different wildlife, I was intrigued by how much I was out of touch with environments outside my comfort zone. Simple thing as bird watching made me want to seek for birds in Singapore and see how much they differ and the different species we have here. Navigating the ecosystem there challenged me to step out of my comfort zone which boosted my confidence in facing unfamiliar situations. Example, I tasted a leaf there and it had a very unique but interesting taste. That was very memorable. Overall, ending the trip, I left with the aspiration to seek out for more new things out of my comfort zone. This is specifically in the nature aspect.
